Paris Hilton and her husband, Carter Reum, have recently welcomed a baby boy via surrogate.

"It's always been my dream to be a mother, and I'm so happy that Carter and I found each other," the new mom told PEOPLE. "We are so excited to start our family together, and our hearts are exploding with love for our baby boy."

The businesswoman and media figure announced the happy news via an Instagram post with a close-up photo of her newborn baby gripping her thumb on Tuesday.

Hilton has been open about wanting to start a family with Reum in the past. She told PEOPLE in December that she and her author, entrepreneur, and venture capitalist husband started the in-vitro fertilization (IVF) process at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We started going and doing it like a few months in because the world was shut down," she told the outlet.

She noted that this was perfect timing as she was typically on "a plane 250 days out of the year," so they get "all of the eggs stocked," and 'we have "tons of them just waiting."

Paris Hilton and Carter Reum Struggled to Conceive

Paris Hilton said last month that she and her husband began their IVF journey in mid-2020 before Carter Reum even proposed.

Her mother, Kathy Hilton, revealed that she and her husband were having trouble conceiving, prompting Hilton to share the status of their IVF treatment, The Daily Mail reported.

Earlier this year, Hilton told E! News that she wanted "two or three" kids with Reum and even desired a twin. She added that she would prefer a son since she always wanted someone to "protect" her.

Hilton also said she and Reum were "planning our babies' names at the time, adding that just doing it together and having a supportive partner that always makes her feel like a princess was not that bad.

Kim Kardashian, her former assistant, reportedly introduced her to IVF. The SKIMS founder welcomed three of her four children via surrogate.

Carter Reum popped the question to Paris Hilton during their trip to a private island to celebrate her birthday in February 2021. They were both 40 years old at the time.

After dating Hilton for a year, Reum gave the hotel heiress a ring with an emerald-cut diamond designed by Jean Dousset.

Hilton and Reum had already known each other for 15 years before they started dating in 2019. The November 2021 wedding of Hilton and Reum took place in her late grandfather's estate in Bel-Air.

Several stars, such as Paula Abdul, Kyle Richards, Emma Roberts, Evan Ross, and Bebe Rexha, had reportedly attended and witnessed Hilton and Reum's wedding. Kim Kardashian, the longtime friend of Paris Hilton, was also present.
