A California judge ruled on Wednesday that the footage of the attack on former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband, Paul Pelosi, be made public.

The attack on Paul by David DePape, who is consumed by right-wing propaganda, has rocked American politics as more Democrats become the target of attacks from right-wingers. 

San Francisco Superior Court Judge Stephen M. Murphy said there was no reason to keep the footage a secret after he denied prosecutors' request to keep it secret.

According to the Associated Press, the prosecutors played the footage in open court last month during a preliminary hearing.

Footage from Capitol police surveillance cameras and body cameras worn by two responding cops were played alongside a recording of Paul Pelosi's 911 call.

A video from DePape's interview with police was also played during the preliminary hearing. In line with his decision, Murphy asked the court clerk's office to distribute the footage to the media.

The San Francisco District Attorney's Office handed over the evidence to the judge Wednesday after a court hearing. The footage may be released to the media as early as Thursday.

The attack on Nancy Pelosi's husband sparked several conspiracy theories online, with Twitter CEO Elon Musk being one who helped spread these conspiracy theories by tweeting a link to an article with unfounded, homophobic allegations.

According to Yahoo! News, these conspiracy theories claimed that David DePape was not a deranged right-winger who broke into the Pelosi home in San Francisco an attempt to kidnap her and break her knees but was actually Paul Pelosi's gay lover.

The conspiracy theory then claimed that the two had a lovers' spat, with DePape attacking Pelosi with a hammer. These claims have been debunked by DePape's statements and statements from the Pelosi neighbors.

However, these theories have already proliferated on the internet as influential right-wing figures like Senator Ted Cruz and media outlets like Fox News widely shared them.

The release of the video footage of the attack may stop some of these conspiracy theories as it showed proof that DePape broke into the home.

It will also include the conversation between him and Paul during the terrifying October home invasion assault.

David DePape Pleads Not Guilty to Attacking Paul Pelosi with a Hammer

David DePape is facing multiple federal and state charges, including attempted murder, kidnapping, and assault with a deadly weapon.

DePape has pleaded not guilty to all federal and state charges. According to CBS News, the suspect also waived his right to a speedy trial last month.

His next court appearance is scheduled for February 23. Murphy has already heard hours of testimony from investigators and saw footage of the attack.

The evidence also includes DePape's hitlist of famous personalities like Tom Hanks and California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom.

Officers arrived at the scene as the two struggled to control DePape's hammer. When police told the men to drop the weapon, Pelosi complied, but DePape did not and instead hit the elderly Pelosi with the hammer.
