George Santos' Ex-Boyfriend Drops Some Major Truth Bombs About the Embattled New York Lawmaker
The ex-boyfriend of embattled New York Rep. George Santos has spoken out about the Republican lawmaker, who is facing growing calls to resign for lying about his past.
When he ran for office, Santos did speak truthfully about being openly gay who is married to another man. However, his ex-boyfriend Pedro Vilarva spilled some juicy secrets to CNN after agreeing to an interview request.
Vilarva told CNN's Erin Burnett on "OutFront" Thursday that he first met Santos in 2014 when he was 18, and the future New York Representative was 26.
He said Santos was married to a woman at the time. He noted that they started dating and moved in together shortly after he graduated high school.
Vilarva said they soon broke up after Santos repeatedly promised to take him to Hawaii and propose, but he never did. He also believed that the soon-to-be congressman had stolen his phone and sold it for cash.
According to Vilarva, he was not surprised that Santos is now a lawmaker as he always looked for 'fame and power," and "that's all he cared about."
He said Santos' ego is 'too big" and will never resign, despite all the criticisms from Democrats and fellow Republicans.
He also revealed that he learned that Santos was married to a woman after he moved out of Santos' home. He said the controversial lawmaker was married to a woman for the whole duration of their relationship.
After reviewing official records, CNN verified that Santos was indeed married to a woman from 2012 to 2019. As new reports reveal the scope of Santos' lies, Vilarva noted that the situation weighed heavier on him.
"It's very shocking. It's disturbing a little bit as well. It's something that happened nine years ago... It all comes back all at once," he told CNN.

George Santos Feuding With Famous Drag Queen Trixie Mattel
One of his biggest scandals is that he used to be a drag queen who went by the name "Kitara Revache," while living in Brazil more than a decade ago.
George Santos initially denied this despite a photo and a video showing him in drag and joining a Pride parade in 2008.
Santos eventually admitted to having dressed in drag back in Brazil but downplayed it, telling reporters, "I was young and had fun at a festival."
Recently, Santos got into a fight with RuPaul's "Drag Race All Stars 3" winner Trixie Mattel. The feud came after Santos complained about the performance of comedians who have impersonated him on television, making fun of his lies.
"I have now been enshrined in late night TV history with all these impersonations, but they are all TERRIBLE so far. Jon Lovitz is supposed to be one of the greatest comedians of all time and that was embarrassing - for him not me! These comedians need to step their game up," Santos tweeted on Monday,
The New York congressman was referring to a skit featured on the episode of NBC's "The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon" on Friday.
Mattel replied to the tweet, telling the lawmaker, "Maybe the source material was weak." Santos then responded, "Clearly you know all about weak acting skills @trixiemattel."
However, the famous drag queen snapped back, saying, "I am not an actor! I was young and I had fun at a festival!"
Mattel had paraphrased the lawmaker's words when previously asked whether he was a drag queen in Brazil.
George Santos Loves Comparison to Leonardo DiCaprio's Con Man Role But Misses the Point
Some people have compared George Santos to the main character of Leonardo DiCaprio's film, "Catch Me If You Can," which Steven Spielberg directed.
According to TMZ, the film is about infamous con man Frank Abganale who pretended to be an airline pilot, doctor, teacher, and prosecutor.
Santos admitted to loving the comparison with DiCaprio, but it seemed he completely missed the point as he was being compared to DiCaprio's character as an infamous liar and con man.
The congressman said he has yet to watch the film but added that he wished he had the actor's bank account.
