Tom Brady Won't Be Pursued by Miami Dolphins; Team Chooses Tua Tagovailoa for 2023
The Miami Dolphins has no intention of pursuing Tom Brady should the star quarterback opt to return for the 2023 season, according to league sources cited by ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Although Brady has not yet determined what he will do for the upcoming season, several teams are likely to be interested in the seven-time Super Bowl champion, who is about to become a free agent.
The Dolphins has been linked to Brady and were fined by the NFL last year for their repeated attempts to tamper with the three-time MVP.
However, according to Schefter's sources, the Miami Dolphins feels confident with Tua Tagovailoa as their QB for 2023 after seeing him flourish in his first year with new head coach Mike McDaniel.
Brady has a "no tag" clause in his expiring deal that prevents the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from franchise-tagging him before his 46th birthday in August.
After the Dallas Cowboys knocked the Tampa Bay Buccaneers out of the playoffs two weeks ago, he informed reporters that he had no definite timeline for deciding.
In his third year with the Bucs, Brady threw for 4,694 yards (third highest in the NFL) and 25 touchdowns.
This past season, Tagovailoa led the NFL in passer rating, throwing for 3,548 yards and 25 touchdowns, both career highs. Furthermore, he led the pack in the Pro Bowl fan poll.
Tagovailoa will not play in the Pro Bowl Games this weekend since he has been out for the better six games due to multiple concussions.

Football Legend Tim Brown Doesn't Want Tom Brady with Las Vegas Raiders Either
Since Tom Brady's two-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is about to end, and Las Vegas Raiders are ready to move on from Derek Carr, the 45-year-old QB has been linked with a shocking move to Sin City during the offseason.
Brady knows head coach Josh McDaniels, who was on Bill Belichick's coaching team in New England when the Patriots won seven Super Bowls; hence, a trade for Brady makes sense. He served as offensive coordinator for the Patriots from 2012 through 2019.
However, a Las Vegas Raiders legend does not want the quarterback on the team.
Although he acknowledges the "possibility," Tim Brown believes the Raiders should take a different approach because of his age.
"I don't think Tom Brady should be in the plans at all..." Brown said on CBS Sports Radio. "I think he's starting to show that he's 45-46 years old."
According to Tim Brown, Brady is starting to fall behind the league's younger, more mobile quarterbacks because of his lack of athleticism.
Tom Brady Has a Chance with Washington Commanders
Rex Ryan, a former NFL coach who is now a commentator for ESPN, has said that he would not be surprised if Tom Brady and Sean Payton eventually joined up to play for the Washington Commanders, Bleacher Report noted.
Brady and Payton's future is one of the most hotly debated topics of the NFL offseason, with the quarterback linked to teams like the Las Vegas Raiders and the former New Orleans Saints head coach linked to openings with the Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, and others.
Although Washington has started Taylor Heinicke, Carson Wentz, and Sam Howell at quarterback this season, they have Ron Rivera at the helm.
Still, Ryan did hint that ownership might switch hands down the road.
For a team that has not made the playoffs since 2005, the prospect of signing the greatest quarterback of all time and a coach who won the Lombardi Trophy with the Saints must be tempting.
Although it seems unlikely, Ryan is optimistic that the Commanders can finally put together a competitive team after so many years of losing.
