Even though several music legends who passed away in the past year were honored in a touching in-memoriam tribute at the Grammys 2023, Aaron Carter was notably missing.

Aaron Carter, 34, died on November 5, 2022. He is known for his albums Aaron's Party and LØVË.

Several musicians were honored in the Grammys 2023 in the Memoriam segment, PEOPLE reports.

A mournful cover of "Coal Miner's Daughter" by Kacey Musgraves was performed in tribute to Loretta Lynn.

Migos' Takeoff was treated to a live rendition of Quavo's current single, "Without You," by Quavo and Maverick City Music.

Meanwhile, Christine McVie was treated to a performance of "Songbird" by Sheryl Crow, Mick Fleetwood, and Bonnie Raitt.

A screen behind the performers showed a rotating roster of different names and faces.

Fans quickly noticed that Aaron Carter and Taylor Hawkins were not included in the list of tributes. The internet later pointed out that Hawkins was honored at last year's ceremony.

People were outraged that Carter was not included in the commemoration, and they took to Twitter to voice their opinions, per Page Six.

"Since the Grammys chose not include Aaron Carter's picture while tributing the passed away singers. I'll just post my own mini tribute because that's so sad. Rest In Peace Aaron Carter #Grammys2023," one person tweeted along with a portrait of the singer.

  "Okay but the #Grammys leaving #Aaroncarter out of the tribute has me pissed! wtf!?!?" a second person wrote.

"Why the heck wasn't Aaron carter included in the memoriam part of the #GRAMMYs ??? That was cold," a third said.

Aaron Carter, who broke into the music industry as a preteen in the early 2000s, is best recognized for his singles from that era. His hits "Crazy Little Party Girl," "I Want Candy," "Crush on You," "Summertime," and "That's How I Beat Shaq" made him a household name.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, they were called to Aaron's home in Lancaster, California, at around 11 a.m. on Saturday.

The housekeeper allegedly discovered his body in the bathroom sink.

Then, police discovered a body that turned out to be Aaron Carter.

During his teen years of success, Carter had a downward spiral of legal trouble and substance misuse.

He even appeared on "The Doctors" when he discussed the numerous medications he was taking. Additionally, he was frequently sent to rehab.

Aaron had a tumultuous connection with everyone in his family, particularly with his brother Nick and sister Angel, who both obtained restraining orders against him.

Nick even issued a statement claiming Aaron's "intentions of killing my wife and unborn child," which Aaron vehemently denied.

Multiple personality disorder, schizophrenia, acute anxiety, and clinical depression were just some of the mental health difficulties that Aaron had to contend with.

Meanwhile, Aaron Carter was mentioned in the in-memoriam section of the physical copy of the Grammys 2023 program, according to PEOPLE, even though he was not part of the segment that was broadcast on television.
