The month of February can be an excellent time to travel in Latin America as summer here runs from January to March, offering travelers plenty of opportunity to retreat to sun-soaked beaches.

Romantic Spots in Latin America

February can be a perfect time to go on a travel date with your significant partner and get to know them as you roam to parts of Latin America. Valentine's Day is a February 14 holiday in some Latin American countries, including Mexico and Ecuador, to celebrate romantic relationships and the love shared between family and friends.

In Brazil, the month of February is considered an important time as it equates to Carnival time. Carnival is the main festivity in Brazil and is popularly known as "The Greatest Show on Earth." The Carnival also showcases the samba dance and the participants' flamboyant costumes.

Ecuador

Ecuador's capital, Quito, is famous for housing both the country's modern life and ancient history. Quito is also home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Old Town," which educates the locals and travelers about the country's history, culture, and education.

Quito also has the Casa Gangotena Boutique Hotel, a renovated place that brings light to the country's history. Several churches can be found in Old Town, such as the Santo Domingo Church, La Iglesia de la Compania, and San Francisco Church & Convent,

Bolivia

Bolivia is starting to gain the reputation of having award-winning wine, with the country's wine industry based in the southern city of Tarija. Wine tasting with your partner in Bolivia could be your next destination. According to NPR, Tarija is known for producing the distilled grape-based spirit called singani, the country's national drink.

Ricardo Ortuño, president of Bolivia's national winemakers' association, took pride in the fact that wines in Bolivia have "more tannins and antioxidants," including more potent aromas and darker colors. Aside from wine tasting, the region is also known for its museums and architectural structures.

Chile

Punta Arenas in Chile has become the tourist center of far southern America, which would leave visitors plenty to do. Punta Arenas is famous for its museums, such as Museo Regional Salesiano, Museo Rio Seco, and Museo del Recuerdo. Most of the travel destination spots in the area are surrounded by culture and ancient historical sites.

Nicaragua

Nicaragua has been a popular honeymoon spot for newlyweds, with one of its most popular destinations being Lake Nicaragua. The lake is home to 365 small islands that create an archipelago called Las Isletas or Islets of Granada.

The stones and ash from the Mombacho volcano first formed the islets. Travelers should not also miss San Juan del Sur, a vibrant town with a big expat community. It is a popular surf beach destination, with the town full of buildings and murals.
