Nipsey Hussle's Death: Father of Convicted Killer Sends Apology
The guy responsible for Nipsey Hussle's death was sentenced to 60 years to life in prison during a hearing on Wednesday.
Eric Ronald Holder Jr., Nipsey Hussle killer, shot the hip-hop artist in front of his clothing store in March 2019, according to a jury's verdict, CNN reported. Holder allegedly confronted Hussle over rumors about calling him a "snitch," according to the prosecution.
Holder received a maximum of 25 years in prison for Nipsey Hussle's death and additional 25 years for firearm enhancements.
He was also given an extra ten years in prison for two counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter after hurting two other men during the same incident.
Holder's dad wrote a letter of apology and sent it to the judge.
"I know there are not enough words or apologies that will fill the void, the loss, the pain, the deep sorrow the family of Ermias Asghedom (Nipsey Hussle) is experiencing. You cannot imagine the agony, the grief, the utter disbelief and devastation I feel knowing my son, Eric Jr., took another person's life," said the letter, which was read aloud for the record.
Holder's father also talked about his son's childhood and mental health, and he mentioned that his son's mother had died about two months before Hussle was shot and killed.
Holder was found guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting death of the late rapper in July 2022.

Growing up in South Los Angeles, Nipsey Hussle was a member of the Rollin' 60s gang.
To give back to his neighborhood, he started the Marathon Clothing business. He had also contacted the Los Angeles Police Department prior to his murder to ask for assistance in reducing gang violence in the area.
He had two children with actor Lauren London, and he received two posthumous Grammys in 2020 for best rap/song collaboration and best rap performance.
He also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, per BBC.
Nipsey Hussle's death has prompted fans from all over the country to post tributes to the rapper.
Hussle was shot at least ten times before Holder kicked his head and fled the scene, according to Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney John McKinney.
Nipsey Hussle Killer
Nipsey Hussle, who was born Ermias Asghedom, and Eric Ronald Holder Jr. were longtime friends from their days in the South Los Angeles gang, the Rollin' 60s.
They shared a common dream of becoming successful rappers. Yet, Holder was never able to achieve the same fame as Hussle.
The evidence against Nipsey Hussle's killer was so strong, with eyewitnesses and security cameras from nearby establishments catching his arrival, the shooting, and his departure, prompting his lawyer, Aaron Jansen, to admit Holder killed Hussle, CBC noted.
Yet, he argued to the jury that the emotional circumstances surrounding the shooting warranted a lower finding of voluntary manslaughter.
The jury reached a judgment of first-degree murder after deliberating for roughly six hours.
Meanwhile, a year after Nipsey Hussle's death, a memorial was held at what was then called the Staples Center, and DJ Khaled and John Legend performed at the Grammy Awards to honor him.
