Avril Lavigne appears to be enjoying her time with her new beau, Tyga, but her ex-fiancé, Mod Sun, reportedly has difficulty watching her move on.

Sources close to Mod Sun told TMZ that the singer has been depressed since his split from Avril, which was not a mutual decision. Mod Sun was reportedly blindsided by the sudden end of their engagement.

The insiders noted that Mod Sun feels devastated by the Canadian singer's developing romance with Tyga. Avril and Tyga have reportedly been together in Paris for Fashion Week and were spotted packing some on the PDA.

One source told the outlet that the PDA pics of the new couple in Paris are especially triggering for Mod Sun.

The insider noted that the American musician viewed Avril and the rapper making out in the same city where he proposed nearly a year ago as a big slap in the face or a vindictive act against him.

Sources said Avril's relationship with Tyga was a hard pill to swallow for Mod Sun as he feels he did nothing wrong.

Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun Breakup

The first romance rumors between Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun began in December 2020, and by March 27 of the following year, Mod Sun had proposed to Avril in Paris, France.

Avril previously said it was the most unique, romantic proposal she could ever dream of. Mod Sun proposed on a boat in the Seine River in Paris.

A source told PEOPLE late last month that "Avril and Mod Sun have been on and off for the past two months but are no longer together as a couple."

Avril and Tyga were first seen dining together at Nobu also late last month, but an insider told the outlet at the time that the two "are genuinely friends and nothing more."

Avril Lavigne and Tyga Romance

Avril Lavigne and Tyga seemed to confirm their romance on Monday when they were spotted kissing at the Paris Fashion Week party for actress Hunter Schafer's new campaign with Mugler.

According to E! News, Avril, 38, stayed close to Tyga as they socialized with friends, including Mugler's creative director Casey Cadwallader.

The 33-year-old rapper leaned in and kissed Avril as she wrapped her arms around his neck. The pair was also captured on camera walking hand-in-hand through the crowd.

Last week, Avril and Tyga were spotted entering Leonardo DiCaprio's bash at Kuku restaurant in Paris. The two looked happy as they prepared to spend the night with other stars at the party.

A representative for Avril told E! News late last month that the two pop-punk rockers had split up.

However, Mod Sun's representative said, at the time, the couple was "engaged as of three days ago when he left for tour so if anything has changed, that's news to him."

In a February 28 Instagram post, Mod Sun broke his silence over the split, saying, "I just know there's a plan for it all. I'll keep my head up + always listen my heart, even when it feels broken."

The 35-year-old singer also said that performing each night to such an enthusiastic crowd has been an incredible privilege, adding that he has the world's best friends and is grateful to them for always having his back.

"See you on stage," he concluded.
