Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, is reportedly being traded to the New York Jets in a massive deal.

According to NFL insider Trey Wingo, the long-awaited trade between the Packers and Jets for Rodgers is "done."

"Hearing Rodgers to the Jets is done. History about to repeat itself between New York and Green Bay. Time is indeed a flat circle," Wingo tweeted. However, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network noted that nothing had happened yet. 

Although Wingo has been aware of the Rodgers rumors all along, Adam Schefter of ESPN added that the Jets are "cautiously optimistic," while also saying that nothing has happened.

Several of Rodgers' Green Bay teammates still had faith that he would return, but it was clear that his time with the Packers was ending, according to Clutch Points.

With Derek Carr's decision to join the New Orleans Saints, it seemed that Rodgers would either play for the Jets or retire.

And after months of discussions and rumors, Rodgers reportedly opted to sign with the Jets to join an offense featuring Breece Hall, Elijah Moore, Garrett Wilson, and a reunion with former Packers OC Nathaniel Hackett.

The Jets first contacted Rodgers on March 6 when a small team member traveled to California to meet with him.

Aaron Rodgers Kept  New York Jets Waiting for His Decision

Aaron Rodgers reportedly continued to keep the New York Jets, the Green Bay Packers, and the rest of the NFL world waiting.

Fans thought Rodgers would reveal his decision Monday morning before the free agency negotiating window opened at noon, the New York Post reported.

However, that time passed without a word from Rodgers, and the NFL world still waited to hear from him until Monday night.

While the Jets themselves were not in a state of panic on Monday, and there is still a widespread assumption in the NFL that Rodgers will be traded to the Jets in the end, the blood pressure of Jets fans was rising with each passing hour and as quarterback choices were taken off the board.

Jimmy Garoppolo, who the Jets had considered signing as a backup quarterback, signed with the Raiders on Monday.

The Jets also lost Mike White, who may have been a pivotal cog in their offense, when he signed with the Dolphins.

Aaron Rodgers Broke Silence Via Tweet, Confusing Everyone

While the NFL world waits for his decision about his future, Aaron Rodgers finally broke his silence on Twitter.

While the Jets and Packers are getting closer to a deal for the superstar quarterback, Rodgers has been relatively quiet about his plans, said The Post.

Yet on Monday night, Rodgers' Twitter account posted the cryptic phrase "SULLLLLL" with two laughing face emojis.

At first, nobody knew what the message meant, but eventually, Rodgers' former Packers teammate admitted that it was probably him who did it. 

"I told y'all I have his phone," Packers cornerback Rasul Douglas quote-tweeted the post, along with three laughing face emojis and three shrugging emojis. 

It appears that "SULLLLL" was an attempt by Douglas to prove he possessed Rodgers' phone by referencing the end of Douglas' first name.

Considering other Jets players making public pitches to the 39-year-old quarterback earlier in the day, Douglas used his Twitter account to defend the Packers' efforts to retain Rodgers.

"Because we have his number," Douglas wrote, quote-tweeting a post that questioned why Packers players did not take to Twitter to ask Rodgers to stay.  He added that they could text him instead of posting it online.

"As our leader he knows how each person on the roster feels about him," Douglas also tweeted, which was liked by Rodgers. The cornerback then reacted to a fan asking him, "this you bro," with Rodger's picture of Twitter likes.

"Hell yeah, I'm liking my tweets with his phone," Douglas responded with two laughing face emojis.

Douglas responded to a fan's challenge to substantiate his claim by tweeting, "What do you want me to tweet on his account and I will, something that shows it's me," accompanied by three eyeball emojis, a few minutes later, during a hectic day of tweeting.

The tweet finally made its way from Rodgers' account around 40 minutes later.

Once Trey Wingo announced that Aaron Rodgers had decided he wanted to join the Jets and that a deal was essentially set, many members of the Jets, including Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall, cheered.
