The Tiger King, Joe Exotic, is running for president... again. The former animal trainer and convicted animal abuser just announced his candidacy for the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election despite currently being in prison.

Joe Exotic was already infamous in Oklahoma but burst into the national spotlight thanks to the hit Netflix docuseries, "Tiger King." He is currently serving a 21-year sentence for various crimes, ranging from animal abuse to his infamous murder-for-hire plot against wildlife activist Carol Baskin.

According to The Independent, Joe Exotic, whose real name is Joseph Allen Maldonado, made his announcement on Twitter, writing, "It's official! I am now a candidate for President of the United States in 2024."

He admitted that many might think the announcement was a joke but said he was serious about running. "Yes, I know I am in Federal Prison and you might think this is a joke but it's not. It is my Constitutional right to do this even from here," he wrote.

The Tiger King has also launched his own campaign website JoeExotic2024.com. Despite being currently incarcerated, he still has the legal right to run for president of the United States.

Joe Exotic Became a Trump Supporter After 2016 and Tried to Run for Oklahoma Governor

According to Yahoo! News, this would be his second time running for the White House, as he previously ran in 2016 and campaigned against Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, which he did not win. John Oliver even made a joke about the animal expert's run on "Last Week Tonight," even before Netflix even released "Tiger King."

However, after his failed 2016 bid, Joe Exotic soon became a Trump supporter. This led to him trying to become the governor of Oklahoma in 2018, running against Rex Lawhorn in the Libertarian primary.

Lawhorn accused the Tiger King of wanting to legalize and tax marijuana and introduce a healthcare system similar to Sen. Bernie Sanders' system. Both candidates soon lost to the eventual nominee, Chris Powell, who was the chairman of the Oklahoma Libertarian Party at the time.

After his conviction, the Oklahoma Libertarian Party soon kicked Joe Exotic out.
