Concerns are growing over the health of Pope Francis, according to Fox News Latino. The 77-year-old pope appeared tired as he spoke to a private audience Saturday. He also spoke for less time than usual -- only about 10 minutes.

The pope skipped a meeting in Rome on Friday at the last minute. It's the third time this month he has either canceled or scaled back an event over health concerns. On Friday afternoon, the pope was scheduled to visit Gemelli hospital to celebrate a Mass, but almost an hour after he was due to attend, the Vatican said in a statement that he was canceling the trip because of an unexpected indisposition. The Vatican also added that there were no health concerns.

Pope Francis has a history of health problems. He only has one full lung after part of one was removed due to infection in his youth, and his lower back often hurts when he walks.

The Daily Beast has reported that rumors are circulating that the pope is growing ill and that he will be canceling his July events. The Vatican has denied these claims.

The Vatican announced on the Official Vatican Network two weeks ago that the pope would be drastically cutting his schedule back by suspending all Wednesday general audiences until August.

The Daily Beast also reported that some have estimated the pope has gained 20 pounds since he took office, likely because of physical inactivity.

"His repeated fatigue reports and weight gain suggest he may be slipping into a form of chronic heart failure common among victims of significant lung disorders," Dr. Peter Hibberd said in an article on Newsmax. "His [immune system] will be challenged when under stress, and more frequent pauses to recover from otherwise small insults -- such as colds, sore throats and minor injuries -- can be expected to increase in the future unless he paces himself."
