Famous "Jurassic Park" actor Sam Neill revealed that he is currently being treated for stage-three blood cancer. The actor's health condition was announced in a memoir scheduled to be released on Tuesday.

Neill was diagnosed with a "ferocious type of aggressive" non-Hodgkin lymphoma in March 2022 and thought, "I'm crook, I'm dying," according to BBC News.

He told BBC that he started writing as a distraction, being he was unable to work. He added that it gave him "a reason to get through the day."

Neill entitled his new memoir "Did I Ever Tell You This," wherein he discussed his illness and his around 50-year career of being an actor.

At one point, he admitted that he thought the subtitle for the book might have been "Notes from a Dying Man."

Right now, Neill is in remission and said, "I'm not afraid of dying," adding that he does not want to stop living as he really enjoys living.

He stressed that the book is not about cancer and that he "can't stand cancer books."

Neill writes in the first chapter of his book that he is "possibly dying" and "might have to speed this up," as reported by LAD Bible.

He explained that he found himself with nothing to do, adding that he was used to working, loves working, and loves going to work.

The actor, who is also known for his "Peaky Blinders" role, said that he suddenly was deprived of his love for work, which prompted him to write a book. Neill said writing gave him a reason to live, thinking that he would be writing about the events of his life tomorrow.

He said it is not a cancer diary but made it somewhat of a "spiral thread" throughout.

Neill's memoir has cover line endorsements from Meryl Streep, Laura Dern, and Stephen Fry. He reveals in his book his first seven years in Ireland to growing up in New Zealand.

The Guardian noted that the actor first experienced swollen gland during publicity for Jurassic World Dominion in March and was diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma.

He started a new chemotherapy drug and will continue to receive it monthly for the rest of his life.

Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is also known as NHL and starts in white blood cells.

It affects mostly adults, with the disease starting in lymph nodes or other lymph tissue, as detailed by the American Cancer Society.

Lymphomas can start anywhere in the body where lymph tissue is found, but most lymph tissues are found in lymph nodes, spleen, bone marrow, thymus, adenoids and tonsils, and digestive tract.

The treatment for this type of cancer depends on the type of NHL. The types of NHL are indolent lymphomas and aggressive lymphomas.

Indolent lymphomas grow and spread slowly and might not need to be treated right away but can be watched closely instead.
