Michigan College Baseball Player Shot, Suspect Identified
An alumnus of Olivet College has been arrested on attempted murder charges after he allegedly shot a Michigan college baseball player after a Friday night game in eastern Ohio, according to The Detroit News.
Prosecutor Ron Welch of Muskingum County, Ohio, is asking for a $1 million bond for Franklin J. Grayson, from Jacksonville, Florida. He is currently in custody.
Olivet College confirmed that Grayson graduated in 2021. However, the victim and suspect have no known connection, the law enforcement told Olivet College.
Grayson, 26, was taken into custody early Saturday morning in Muskingum County.
Grayson attended Olivet College, a Division III school between Jackson and Kalamazoo and southwest of Lansing, from 2016 and 2020, per his LinkedIn profile.
He graduated with a degree in business administration and management in 2021, according to the college's records.
Meanwhile, Grayson's current affiliation with Olivet College was not confirmed by the college's spokesperson, and no response has been received from Santiago Mendez, the head baseball coach.

The Shooting Incident Happened After the Game
The Muskingum County Prosecutor's Office reported that an unnamed Michigan college baseball player from Olivet College was shot three times by Grayson, an alumnus of the same college, after the game, NY Post noted.
Moments after the game ended, the victim returned to the dugout to retrieve his stuff when he was shot, according to Olivet College.
Muskingum University stated the injured player was brought to the hospital after receiving treatment at the scene and is currently in stable condition.
Officials told students to shelter in place while the suspect was at large.
Eyewitnesses gave a description that matched Grayson, leading to the capture of the alleged gunman, according to the prosecution.
Prosecutors in Florida have indicted Grayson on two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and one count of attempted murder.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim, his family, and all others impacted by this crime," the prosecutor's office said in a statement.
Grayson faces up to 14 years in jail if he is found guilty.
However, as the investigation into the incident progresses, further charges may be brought.
The Michigan College Baseball Player and the Team Are Safe, Says Olivet College
The Olivet College confirmed in a statement that the Michigan college baseball player was with his parents as of Saturday morning, said The Columbus Dispatch.
The school also confirmed that the rest of the team was fine, had spent the night at their hotel, and would be driving back to Michigan on Saturday, and that nobody else from either college-faculty, staff, or students-was hurt.
The shelter-in-place order was lifted at 9:15 pm.
Muskingum University has canceled all weekend sporting events, according to a statement released by university spokesperson Jennifer Shaver.
The university was supposed to play baseball with Olivet again on Sunday.
Michigan's Olivet College beat Muskingum 8-6 during Friday's game, according to the school's website.
Meanwhile, the Monday matchup between Olivet and Penn State-Behrend in Erie, Pennsylvania, was also called off.
