Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis Trade More Barbs as Legal Walls Close in on Former President
As his number one political rival is facing possible indictments over various cases, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently sat down with Piers Morgan and took a swipe at former President Donald Trump. As expected, Trump swung back.
While appearing on Fox Nation's "Piers Morgan Uncensored," DeSantis went from veiled swipes at the embattled former president to directly addressing Trump's jabs with his own, questioning his character and leadership. Trump did not take kindly to this, releasing his own remarks after the DeSantis interview.
"While I am fighting against Radical Left Lunatics, Persecutors, and unfair Prosecutors who want to destroy us all, Ron DeSanctimonious is not working for the people of Florida as he should be, he is too busy chatting with a Ratings Challenged TV Host from England, desperately trying to rescue his failing Campaign-But it's my fault, I put him there!" Trump said.
Trump tried to cast DeSantis as disloyal to him, according to The Hill. He has been trying out several nicknames for the Florida governor and has so far stuck with his "Ron DeSanctimonious" moniker.
Ron DeSantis Laughs Offs Donald Trump's Attempts to Nickname Him
Piers Morgan, who has beefed with Trump as well, laughed with Ron DeSantis at the former president's attempts to have a nickname for the controversial Florida Governor.
"You can call me whatever you want," DeSantis said. "just as long as you also call me a winner."

According to CNN, DeSantis mostly brushed off questions regarding his 2024 plans. However, he is still widely seen as the biggest challenger to the Republican nomination aside from Donald Trump, who is still running and can legally run despite all his legal issues.
Morgan tried goading DeSantis to attack Trump, with him comparing their relationship to the one between Dr. Frankenstein and Frankenstein's Monster. However, DeSantis dodged the question directly and stated, "If I were to run, I'm running against Biden."
After the Florida governor's renewed attacks on the former president, Trump adviser and spokesman Jason Miller tweeted that DeSantis "has finally shown his true colors. An establishment Never Trumper who despises the MAGA base and was faking it the entire time."
Ron DeSantis Criticized Donald Trump's Leadership
During the Piers Morgan interview, DeSantis also took a shot at the chaotic Trump presidency, pointing out that Trump's personal transgressions and key personnel turnover have overshadowed just how chaotic Trump's time was inside the White House.
"I also think just in terms of my approach to leadership, I get personnel in the government who have the agenda of the people and share our agenda. You bring your own agenda in, you're gone," the Florida governor told his British interviewer. "So, the way we run the government I think is no daily drama, focus on the big picture, and put points on the board and I think that's something that's very important."
DeSantis also stated that he would have handled COVID-19 differently than Trump and said he would have fired Dr. Anthony Fauci. However, Florida had one of the highest COVID-19 death rates in the United States, as CDC data supported, and many blamed DeSantis's policies for this.
