A California teen died after a suspect fleeing the scene of an earlier stabbing rolled his vehicle and crashed into a group of students on the sidewalk near a Thousand Oaks campus on Tuesday, police said.

According to KTLA, the driver hit four Westlake High School students, killing a 15-year-old boy and injuring three other teens.

In a press release, the Simi Valley Police Department said officers responded to a call at around 2:48 p.m. about a customer stabbing an employee of a Walmart store at 255 West Cochran Street.

Police noted that the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. However, witnesses were able to provide information about the suspect's white Toyota Camry car with a missing front bumper and the vehicle's license plate number.

While the stabbing victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment and Simi Valley police investigated the stabbing, Ventura County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to calls of an "injury collision" near the intersection of Thousand Oaks Boulevard and Lakeview Canyon Road at around 3:40 p.m.

Police said it involved the stabbing suspect's vehicle, but the exact details of the crash were unclear.

Ventura County Sheriff's officials only said the suspect's car plowed into the teenagers.

Police noted that a 15-year-old boy died in the collision, while a 14-year-old girl, a 16-year-old girl, and another 15-year-old boy were taken to the hospital.

The Conejo Valley Unified School District officials confirmed that all four victims were Westlake High School students.

Suspect to California Teen's Death Linked to Other Crimes

Ventura County Sheriff's officials believed that the incident was an intentional act and said the suspect had been arrested on suspicion of homicide, VC Star reported.

Police identified the driver as Austin Eis, 24, who had been involved in two crimes Tuesday, including a stabbing, before the single-vehicle collision.

Authorities also linked Eis to a domestic dispute in Camarillo on the same day. He reportedly went to Camarillo after leaving Walmart. 

Police said he got involved in a domestic dispute with his parents in Camarillo, but no injuries were reported. Officials noted that the Camarillo incident was also considered a crime scene as brandishing was involved.

The suspect then went to Thousand Oaks, where he struck the students walking on the sidewalk. An overturned white car, resting on its roof, was seen at the crash site.

Two of the injured students were reportedly in critical condition, while the other California teen suffered minor injuries. The store employee sustained at least one stab wound and was being treated at a trauma center.

Austin Eis was also taken to a hospital after he was trapped inside the car when it flipped over following the crash.

At this time, authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved, and they are still investigating the motive, believing that he struck the students intentionally, CBS News reported.

"The motive for the attack in Simi Valley is yet to be determined, and the investigation remains ongoing. Some details regarding the investigation cannot be released due to investigative integrity and the multi-jurisdictional nature of this crime," the Simi Valley Police Department said.
