Twitter CEO Elon Musk has threatened to file a lawsuit against Microsoft over what he alleged was the company's illegal usage of Twitter data to train its AI model.

Musk's warning came after it was reported that Microsoft would drop Twitter from its advertising platform, which allows ad buyers to manage all their social media accounts in one place.

The billionaire then tweeted: "They trained illegally using Twitter data... Lawsuit time," CNBC reported.

However, as of the moment, no lawsuit against Microsoft appears to have been filed. Microsoft invested $10 billion in a deal with OpenAI, which owns ChatGPT. Musk was a co-founder of OpenAI before deciding to leave its board in 2018.

He complained that the company moved from a nonprofit model to a highly valuable business influenced by Microsoft.

Data owners are now making a demand as AI model training is moving, with Reddit saying that it would charge companies for access to its programming interface used to feed users' conversations into AI training software.

Microsoft Removing Twitter

Microsoft said its social media planning and scheduling tools for advertisers would no longer support Twitter after it started charging for access to its programming interface.

Microsoft's Smart Campaign Service provides aid to advertisers managing social media campaigns on services such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Citing the company, Money Control reported that users of the product would not be able to write tweets and drafts or see past tweets and engagements by April 25.

The Microsoft Advertising feature allows advertisers to manage their social media platforms in one place. Users can respond to tweets and direct messages with messages received on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

The company earned more than $12 billion through its advertising platform in 2022.

Elon Musk Eyeing ChatGPT Rival

Elon Musk told Fox News' "Tucker Carlson Tonight" on Monday that he wanted to join the AI development race and that he will call it TruthGPT.

According to CNBC, Musk said he would want his AI chatbot to be a "maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe."

The billionaire noted that the path to "AI dystopia is to train AI to be deceptive." He also said that the technology is "more dangerous" than a mismanaged aircraft designer.

Musk previously said he plans to pursue generative AU, a for-profit company. The billionaire also told Carlson he is concerned that the current AI developments are "being trained to be politically correct."

He earlier claimed that Bill Gates, one of the co-founders of Microsoft, and Meta leader Mark Zuckerberg do not have a good grasp of AI.
