LeBron James is still enjoying the blue check mark on his Twitter account despite not cashing out any payments for a Twitter Blue subscription.

The Twitter Blue subscription was introduced when Elon Musk purchased the social media company. It is one of the several changes he launched to better manage the social media platform and its expenses. The subscription costs $8 a month.

For many, the price of the subscription does not suit them, including the NBA Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron, according to Lakers Nation.

LeBron has been known to be a "cheap person" when it comes to his finances, which made sense that he will not be paying for the Twitter Blue subscription, which he confirmed in a tweet.

However, LeBron will not have to pay for anything, with the Twitter CEO noting that he will personally pay for the Twitter Blue subscription of the NBA legend.

Elon Musk Paying for LeBron James Twitter Blue

The Verge confirmed that a Twitter employee has recently emailed LeBron James to extend a "complimentary subscription to Twitter Blue" for his account "on behalf of Elon Musk."

Adam Mendelsohn, LeBron's media advisor, also confirmed that James has not paid to be verified.

CBS Sports noted that a person familiar with the matter said that LeBron declined the offer when Twitter reached out.

However, Musk confirmed that the social media platform is offering the same benefit to some high-profile individuals on Twitter.

The Twitter owner and CEO said that he is "paying for a few personally."

Meanwhile, other NBA icons such as Stephen Curry, Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Ja Morant lost their blue checks on Thursday. All of them had legacy verified accounts.

Other profiles that Musk is personally paying to remain blue check verified are Stephen King and William Shatner. King said that he has not subscribed to Twitter Blue or given the company his phone number.

Musk then tweeted that he is covering for the best-selling author's subscription.

Twitter Blue Subscription

Musk removed the blue checkmarks from around 420,000 "legacy verified" accounts that were granted to celebrities through Twitter's previous identity verification process.

Only users who pay $8 per month will have the blue checkmark attached to their Twitter username.

As a result, some celebrities opted to pay the $8 Twitter Blue subscription, including musical artists Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, and Rihanna, according to Mashable.

Other big names willing to pay for the subscription include The Weeknd, Joe and Nick Jonas, Cardi B, and Britney Spears, among many others.

Talk show hosts such as Jimmy Fallon and Ellen DeGeneres also decided to pay for a Twitter Blue subscription.

One member of the Kardashian family, Khloe, also decided to pay for the service, which used to be free.

Right-wing key figures such as Tucker Carlson, Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro, and Joe Rogan had also decided to pay for the subscription.
