Aaron Rodgers Set to Leave Green Bay Packers, Finalizing New York Jets Trade
Aaron Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, is leaving the Green Bay Packers for the New York Jets after months of trade negotiations, though they are still finalizing the deal, according to NPR.
The teams have been trying to reach an agreement for roughly six days. However, "some things need to be done," according to Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst, who addressed the media at a news conference on Monday afternoon.
He continued by saying that he anticipated resolving everything might take a few more days. The decision was made just a few days before the 2023 NFL Draft.
The agreement would give Green Bay 11 picks in the draft. They now have "one pick in the first round, two in the second round, one in the third round, one in the fourth round, one in the fifth round, one in the sixth round, and four in the seventh round."
The 39-year-old quarterback had been open about his dissatisfaction with playing for the Packers for some time, claiming he ought to have been more involved in the team's management. He made clear that he intended to join the New York Jets.

Aaron Rodgers New York Jets Trade Breakdown
It had been 40 days since Rodgers announced he would join the Jets.
Unfortunately, the two clubs could not reach a trade agreement, and there was no pressing need to do so. The Packers wanted to get picks in this year's draft, and this week's NFL draft was a soft deadline.
Whoever won the deal will be a long debate and can only be answered after at least a year, per the NY Post.
The Jets made an excellent decision if Rodgers leads them to a division title and the AFC Championship game in 2023 and then returns for the 2024 season, as opposed to if they go 9-8, miss the playoffs, and he retires.
The Jets are taking a significant risk, but it is worth it. Aaron Rodgers can save them from years of mediocre football.
Rodgers will be free to join the team in New Jersey as soon as the deal is finalized.
In previous years, he has avoided participating in Green Bay's spring program at his discretion.
Nobody knows how he will handle things with his new squad, but the Jets have started their off-season training.
They will begin OTAs on May 22, and when that time comes, teams can finally rehearse actual offensive and defensive strategies.
The Jets do not have to worry about Rodgers learning the offense because new offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett worked with him well in Green Bay, but they would love it if he bought in and started building chemistry with his new teammates.
What Should Fans Expect Following Blockbuster Trade?
New York's Jets might play as many as six prime-time games next season thanks to the Aaron Rodgers trade, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter's sources.
They only had one prime time last year when the Jacksonville Jaguars visited them for a Thursday night game.
As a result of the deal, the Jets' Super Bowl chances at Caesars Sportsbook improved to 14-1, while the Green Bay Packers are at 50-1.
The Packers' postseason chances are currently +170, while the Jets' are at -150. The odds of Aaron Rodgers winning NFL MVP are 18-1, making him the seventh favorite.
It is like the Brett Favre deal in 2008, where the New York Jets got a franchise quarterback after years of losing and poor play from incumbent starter Geno Smith.
