'Orange Is the New Black' Season 2 Cast: Pablo Schreiber to Leave ‘OITNB,’ But Pornstache Storyline Will Continue in Season 3
Just when things were heating up for Pablo Schreiber's character George "Pornstache" Mendez on the second season of Netflix's "Orange is the New Black," Schreiber's character will reportedly fade to black in the third season.
Schreiber wasn't seen in much of Season 2, but he did make a cameo during the last three episodes, with his character raising hell and new stakes for (SPOILER ALERT!) "OITNB" character Daya Diaz, who framed Pornstache as the father of her prison baby.
Though Pornstache was sent to jail during Season 2, his and Diaz's storyline undoubtedly left fans wondering what would become of him and his alleged unborn child.
But Schreiber said fans will just have to keep wondering. He recently explained to Vulture that he is now a series regular on HBO's "The Brink," and because of this, he will no longer be on "Orange Is the New Black."
Talk about a major bummer.
Just because he's leaving doesn't mean there won't be a Pornstache plotline in Season 3, however. Schreiber also revealed that Mary Steenburgen has been cast to play Pornstache's mother, who will become the focal point in advancing the Pornstache/Daya story.
"For now, Mendez is in prison, biding his time," Mendez told Vulture. "Spoiler alert!"
Will Pornstache's mom try to gain custody of Daya's child during Season 3? We'll just have to wait and see.
Though Schreiber will no longer be on the show, he did dish that he thinks Pornstache should have more than one child.
"Pornstache would make an amazing dad," he said. "He'd be a doting father. I think he's very interested in legacy, like he wants to make as many mini-Pornstaches as he can. Get all kinds of people out there just transforming the U.S. justice system in as many ways as possible."
How many kids does Pornstache want?
"Six to eight, probably," Shreiber said. "All boys would be good. Six to eight little kings. Little porn kings."
