'Cougar Town' Update: Courteney Cox Engaged to Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid
Actress Courteney Cox, of "Friends" and "Cougar Town" fame, announced Thursday that she and Snow Patrol's Johnny McDaid are engaged. Cox revealed the big news by tweeting a photo of the couple along with the message, "I'm engaged to him!" Simultaneously, McDaid tweeted the photo with the caption, "I'm engaged to her!"
The two were spotted in Turks and Caicos celebrating Cox's 50th birthday on June 15. On Wednesday night, the couple were leaving a Craig's restaurant in Los Angeles, where paparazzi captured photos of Cox's new diamond engagement ring.
The pair have been together since late 2013, which was revealed when they attended a Christmas party thrown by Cox's former "Friends" co-star and longtime friend, Jennifer Aniston. Before dating Johnny McDaid, Cox was rumored to be dating "Cougar Town" co-star Biran van Holt, 44. Since then, the two celebs have collaborated on the film "Just Before I Go," which Cox directed and for which McDaid wrote three songs.
"I've had a lot more support from him than him just being here tonight," Cox told PEOPLE Magazine at the film's premiere in April. "Snow Patrol wrote three original songs for this movie. I'm really fortunate. It's amazing, all the musical things that he brought to it. ... I couldn't be happier. It really elevates the film in so many ways."
McDaid, 37, from Northern Ireland, was also Vega4's lead singer before becoming part of Snow Patrol and is close with singer Ed Sheeran. McDaid produced Sheeran's second album in Nashville before moving to Los Angeles. The guitarist has also been spotted hanging out with One Direction's Harry Styles.
Courteney Cox was married to David Arquette until their divorce was finalized last year. They have a 10-year-old daughter, Coco. In a recent "Wendy Williams Show" appearance, Arquette said McDaid was "a great guy" and "amazing."
No details on their nuptials have been announced.
