Dallas Star Luka Doncic Shares Pain After Tragic Serbia Shootings
Dallas Mavs point Guard Luka Doncic has spoken up amid the news of the Serbia mass shootings.
Doncic expressed his support through a tweet saying that he is looking for both immediate and long-term ways to support the students, faculty, and families affected by the shooting at Vladislav Ribnikar Elementary School.
BBC reported that Doncic will be paying for the funerals of eight children and a security guard killed in a Belgrade school shooting in one of Serbia's reported mass shootings. The NBA player, who has a Serbian father, said he will also pay for grief counseling for classmates and staff.
Doncic said he is "heartbroken" by the tragic school shooting and loss of lives, including children.
The professional basketball player has loved ones living in Belgrade as his grandmother, aunt, uncle, and cousin live there.
CBS Sport noted that Doncic quickly reached out to the community to provide any assistance following the shooting. He is believed to try to earn support from other NBA players that come from the region to help the Serbia mass shootings victims.
Serbia Mass Shootings
The man suspected of killing at least eight people in Serbia has been arrested following a huge manhunt.
The latest shooting occurred on Thursday night when an attacker opened fire in the village of Dubona, according to CNN.
He then opened fire on two other villages such as Mali Orasje and Sepsin.
Over 600 members of Serbian Special Forces were deployed to search for the suspect, with authorities deploying helicopters and thermal imaging cameras.
Special police units were also tapped, including its anti-terrorism branch. The helicopter unit and police forces of Belgrade and Smederevo are deployed.
Authorities, later on, identified the suspect as a 21-year-old male named Uros B. Serbian police seized four hand grenades from the home where the suspect was hiding.
The interior Ministry of the country said that they are treating the incident as an act of domestic terrorism but did not provide further details.
Local media reported that a police officer and his sister were among those killed.

Serbia School Shooting
The suspect was a 13-year-old boy who gunned down a security guard and his classmates in the Serbian capital Belgrade. The suspect suddenly "pulled the pistol out of his bag" to shoot the security, according to Belgrade's police chief Veselin Milic.
Milic said the suspect then went to the on-duty staff member and sat down at his desk like the suspect "did nothing wrong," as reported by CNN.
The police chief added that the suspect walked towards a history classroom, shooting as he walked down the corridor. He then entered the room and shot the teacher and other students from the doorway.
Milic said the boy had a 9mm pistol and a small caliber pistol in a bag, including four Molotov cocktails.
The prosecutor's office released a statement saying that the motives of the crime are still being investigated.
Meanwhile, the suspect's parents were arrested, as well.
