DJ Rodman, the son of NBA legend Dennis Rodman, announced on social media that he is transferring to the University of Southern California (USC), playing with Bronny James, the son of LeBron James. 

DJ used to play for Washington State University (WSU). The 6-foot-6 forward has played the last four seasons at WSU and averaged 9.6 points and 5.8 rebounds. 

Last season, he started in 30 of 31 games for the Cougars. His father, Dennis Rodman, was a graduate of WSU with a degree in communications before winning NBA championships with the Detroit Pistons and the Chicago Bulls alongside Isiah Thomas and Michael Jordan, respectively.

According to the Associated Press, the younger Rodman is taking advantage of the NCAA rule allowing an extra year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic to play for the Trojans near his Newport Beach hometown.

LeBron James' Son Bronny James Committed to Stay With USC Trojans

Leaving WSU will mean that the sons of two of the NBA's most legendary forwards, Dennis Rodman and LeBron James, will play alongside each other in the same team. 

That would also make USC's lineup even more star-studded. Aside from DJ Rodman and Bronny James, USC has also signed guard Isaiah Collier and forward Arrinten Page. Several big names will return next year, including top scorer Boogie Ellis and defensive stalwarts Kobe Johnson and Joshua Morgan. The latter two were named to the Pac-12's All-Defensive team.

As for Bronny himself, ESPN reported that Trojans coach Andy Enfield has already received a signed national letter of intent from the younger James. The USC guard had previously announced on social media that he had already committed to stay at USC and play for the Trojans. He said he had already discussed it with his father, LeBron James, after the Lakers' playoff victory.

The USC Trojans are considered a powerhouse team in its division and have even reached the NCAA tournament, also known as "March Madness," for three years in a row. However, the team lost to the Michigan State University Spartans in the first round.

How Good Would Dennis Rodman's Son, DJ Rodman, Be at USC?

DJ Rodman was a very reliable starter for WSU, with a 23-point performance against Eastern Washington last year. With his transfer to Southern California, he will arrive with much hype. However, is he good enough to propel the Trojans to win it all next April?

Even with a star-studded lineup, that remains to be seen. But like his father, DJ also excels at defense and rebounding. The Sporting News described the younger Rodman as a "versatile defender who will take on perimeter assignments and battle big men in the post."

DJ Rodman is seen to create second-chance opportunities for USC, as he is also a good offensive rebounder, just like Dennis Rodman. However, unlike his father, he can actually hit a 3-point shot.
