Yet another mass shooting has happened, this time in northwestern New Mexico, resulting in at least three people dead and several others wounded. The gunman in that New Mexico shooting has been killed by police.

This latest mass shooting occurred at around 11 a.m. Monday in Farmington, a city known to be a trading post to the adjacent Navajo Nation reservation, as well as a supply line to the region's oil and natural gas industry.

USA Today reported that of those people wounded, two were police officers who responded to the incident. The Farmington Police Department then confirmed that multiple police officers were involved in confronting the suspect, who was killed on the scene.

"The details we have are that multiple officers from the Farmington Police Department were involved in an officer-involved shooting," stated the Farmington PD on their Facebook page. "One suspect was confronted and killed on scene."

New Mexico Shooting Gunman Yet To Be Identified, Says Police

The Farmington Police Department confirmed that the shooting happened in a residential part of Farmington, which immediately went into lockdown soon after. The police also confirmed that the two police officers who were injured are in stable condition and are being treated at a nearby medical facility.

New York Post said that the suspect is yet to be identified, with authorities still investigating the motives for his attack. The incident was said to have had "multiple civilian victims."

This latest mass shooting took place barely a day after the mass shooting in Yuma, Arizona, that saw two people dead and five others wounded. This new one also came a week after another mass shooting near Dallas, Texas where eight people were killed at an outlet mall.

The lockdown has since been lifted in the area, which was near several schools. Authorities confirmed that no students were injured during the shooting incident.

Police Describe New Mexico Shooting as 'Chaotic Scene'

Deputy Police Chief Baric Crum told reporters that four officers from the department confronted the mass shooter and said, "They were able to stop his actions at that time," adding that it was a "chaotic scene." He urged everyone with knowledge of the suspect to come forward.

According to NBC News, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham released a statement after the mass shooting and thanked authorities for their quick response. She also addressed the victims of this tragic attack.

"I am deeply upset by the tragic violence that unfolded today in Farmington. I am praying for the families of the victims, the wounded, and the entire community of Farmington following this horrific tragedy," she said and added, "I'm also grateful for the quick response by law enforcement. My administration will not stop fighting the epidemic of gun violence from every angle possible."
