Donald Trump's continuous attacks on rape accuser E. Jean Carroll may cost him even more as he continued disparaging her on TV and social media, even after he was found liable for sexually assaulting her and defaming her.

Carroll was awarded $5 million for Trump defaming and sexually abusing her in a civil trial. Now, the former Elle magazine columnist is seeking at least $10 million more, according to her most recent court filing last Monday. This new amended lawsuit seeks to hold him accountable for the remarks he made after the verdict and even cited the former president's controversial CNN town hall earlier this month,

According to the Associated Press, the new Carroll amended lawsuit claims that Donald Trump "doubled down" on derogatory remarks against E, Jean Carroll during a cable TV appearance after the verdict. This points to his appearance during the CNN town hall, where he maintained he did not rape her and continued claiming that he does not know her.

"It is hard to imagine defamatory conduct that could possibly be more motivated by hatred, ill will, or spite," wrote Carroll's attorneys in this amended lawsuit against Trump. "This conduct supports a very substantial punitive damages award in Carroll's favor both to punish Trump, to deter him from engaging in further defamation, and to deter others from doing the same."

Donald Trump's CNN Town Hall Comments That Led To the Amended Lawsuit

After the verdict against him was made, Trump ranted about it during his controversial CNN Town Hall appearance. Trump was already appealing the case and reiterated that Carrol's case was a "fake" and a "made-up story," even referring to it as "hanky-panky."

According to the Guardian, Trump repeated his past claims during the Town Hall and called her a "whack job" again.

Roberta Kaplan, who represents the former Elle magazine columnist, stated that the former president's CNN Town Hall remarks "makes a mockery of the jury verdict and our justice system" and stressed that he must not be allowed to get away with repeating defamatory statements.

During that same town hall, Trump also attacked the judge who oversaw the case, claiming that he was an "anti-Trump judge" and claiming that he is biased against the former president.

The Case of E. Jean Carroll

In her testimony in court, E. Jean Carroll gave an emotional account of how Trump sexually assaulted her inside a dressing room in the Bergdorf Goodman Department Store in Manhattan. She stated that she ran into the New York property mogul while shopping, and he lured her into a dressing room and sexually assaulted her there.

Carroll stayed quiet about the ordeal but did tell two of her closest friends about it. During their testimony, those two friends described her as hysterical, and their account matched that of Carroll's.

Carroll finally went public with her story in 2019 when Trump was still the POTUS. He denied all the allegations that she made against him, leading to her filing a lawsuit, which did not go through as he was still president at that time. However, he continued defaming her after leaving office, which then led to the lawsuit which Carroll won.

Her lawyers presented two witnesses in court who have similar tales of repeated behavior from Trump, with both witnesses claiming they were also sexually assaulted. This, along with his infamous "Grab'em by the p***y" tape showed a pattern of behavior that Trump is confident he could get away with rape and that he would do it again.
