More migrants were sent to California, and Gavin Newsom is not happy as many of them were tricked into being sent there, with many believing that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is behind all of this.

Last week, 16 migrants from Venezuela and Colombia were sent to Sacramento and then dumped in a Catholic church there. Nonprofit organizations that talked to and helped out these migrants found out that they were promised jobs in California, but they were just left behind at a church.

Governor Gavin Newsom then took to social media and took aim at his Florida Republican counterpart after more migrants were dumped into Sacramento on Monday morning. "You small, pathetic man," Newsom tweeted at DeSantis, who is running for president with a "culture war" agenda that has divided the nation. "This isn't Martha's Vineyard. Kidnapping charges?"

Newsom is saying that DeSantis's act violates the California criminal code statute on kidnapping, as many of the migrants were brought into the state against their will, or were sent there through fraudulent means as many were promised jobs.

Florida is getting the blame as the migrants were transported through a program run by Florida's Division of Emergency Management. According to the Desert Sun, the migrants were lured and transported by the same contractor that Florida used when they flew Venezuelan migrants from Texas to Martha's Vineyard last year.

"While we continue to collect evidence, I want to say this very clearly: State-sanctioned kidnapping is not a public policy choice, it is immoral and disgusting," said California Attorney General Rob Bonta.

Florida Official Confirms State Behind California Migrant Flights

As Gavin Newsom was threatening kidnapping charges against Ron DeSantis amid the migrant crisis. Florida Department of Emergency Management spokesperson Alecia Collins defended the state's actions, confirming that it was indeed Florida that sent those migrant flights, according to Deadline.

"Florida's voluntary relocation is precisely that - voluntary. Through verbal and written consent, these volunteers indicated they wanted to go to California," said Collins while also providing a video of the migrants as they were getting transported to the state.

However, while Florida argued that the migrants wanted to go to California, the migrants themselves stated that they were promised to get homes and jobs when none were waiting for them. Legal experts state that this might not just constitute human trafficking, but also fraud.

"Using Florida taxpayer dollars to traffic migrants from Texas through New Mexico to California to try to get votes in Iowa and New Hampshire. Pathetic," said Newsom spokesperson Anthony York. California is now evaluating potential civil or criminal action against DeSantis.

Massachusetts Also Wants Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Investigated Over Human Trafficking

DeSantis is not only facing a possible California probe but also got one requested by Massachusetts after his Martha's Vineyard stunt.

"We are requesting that the Department of Justice open an investigation to hold DeSantis and others accountable for these inhumane acts," said State Rep. Dylan Fernandes. "Not only is it morally criminal, there are legal implications around fraud, kidnapping, deprivation of liberty, and human trafficking."

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office in Texas is also investigating the matter, as the Martha's Vineyard migrants were taken from a migrant center there. Much like the Sacramento migrants, they were also promised jobs when none were waiting for them.
