Former president Donald Trump has been indicted again, this time over keeping classified documents in Mar-a-Lago after leaving office. The Ex-POTUS has maintained he did nothing wrong despite all the evidence presented against him.

This would be the second time a former president has been indicted in the history of the United States. The first time was against him as well, in connection to his hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels during the elections.

According to USA Today, the Justice Department investigation under Special Counsel Jack Smith indicted Trump on seven charges. So far, what these charges exactly are remain sealed. However, legal experts have argued that the classified documents case is the most surefire way to land Trump in prison.

The case will be heard in a federal court in Miami, Florida, with the Department of Justice already moving additional resources to the city ahead of the former president's expected court appearance, which might draw protesters and might repeat the events of January 6.

Trump now faces criminal charges in two jurisdictions, with another two investigations, one federal over January 6 and one in Georgia over election interference, possibly indicting him as well. Over in New York, he was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business over his hush money payment to Stormy Daniels.

Donald Trump, Allies, Condemn Classified Documents Indictments

Donald Trump did not take the news of his being indicted again too well, as he immediately took to his social media site, Truth Social, to rant about it.

CNN reported that the ex-POTUS acknowledged that he had been indicted of a crime for the second time, saying that he had been "summoned to appear at the Federal Courthouse in Miami on Tuesday, at 3 PM." He then blamed the Biden administration, writing, "The corrupt Biden Administration has informed my attorneys that I have been Indicted, seemingly over the Boxes Hoax."

Make America Great Again Inc. spokesperson Karoline Leavitt decried the charges, saying, "The Biden Regime, which is realizing they can't beat or cheat their way to another victory, has taken the unprecedented step to indict President Trump."

Meanwhile, House Republican Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, a staunch Trump ally and defender, wrote on social media "It's a sad day for America."

Alina Habba, a Trump lawyer, blamed the DOJ for "selective prosecution" and "selective persecution," calling the case "Russia third-world stuff" and noted that her client would be "vindicated."

What Is the Donald Trump Classified Documents Case?

After losing the 2020 election and leaving the White House, Donald Trump took home possibly hundreds of classified documents which may hold some very important national secrets, including ones for US allies.

The documents should have been handed to the National Archives, and the agency wanted them back. After filing a subpoena for their return, Trump lawyer Evan Corcoran returned a handful of these documents. According to ABC News, Trump may have lied to his attorney, thus not returning everything.

Officials grew suspicious that Trump did not return everything, leading to the raid on his Mar-a-Lago residence where authorities found hundreds of classified documents in an unsecured location. This then prompted to an investigation that led to even more classified documents being uncovered, with Jack Smith taking over the investigation as special counsel.
