Ron DeSantis's latest stunt where he sent a group of migrants from Texas to New Mexico and then flew them across state lines to Californioa might cause him legal trouble. Now, the migrants are saying that Florida contractors pushed to get them to board the chartered flights to Sacramento.

Most of the migrants DeSantis dumped in Sacramento were from Venezuela, seeking asylum in the United States. One of them is Maria, who traveled over 2,800 miles to the US-Mexico border before gaining entry and seeking shelter at Sacred Heart Church in downtown El Paso, Texas.

Much like other asylum seekers, she was released on parole by Customs and Border Protection. However, she had no money to even pay for a plane or bus ticket and even slept in an alley outside the shelter on some nights. This was until a woman approached her and offered to fly her to California for free.

"She said I should go, that there were people there to receive us who would give us lodging, that they would help us ... get our [immigration] papers in order," Maria told the Los Angeles Times. She reportedly had no idea that the woman was a contractor hired by the administration of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The woman, along with three other people--another woman and two men--were seen walking along the El Paso migrant shelter trying to recruit migrants. They were reportedly telling the migrants that they were trying to help. They managed to get 16 migrants to agree, driving them to a small airport in New Mexico before flying them to California.

US Migrants Wary of Ron DeSantis Contractor Recruiting People

Three of the US migrants who were approached, including Maria, admitted they did not go because the offers were "vague and suspicious" and that they were pushing aggressively. They also insisted on looking at the documents that border agents had given them.

The fraud case against DeSantis's contractors may also get stronger because of this, as they reportedly made plenty of false promises. One of the contractors allegedly told one of the migrants, who wanted to go to New York, that one of the people in California would help them go to their desired state. When the migrants arrived, none of the help promised was there. They were dumped in a Catholic church and left to fend for themselves.

According to Yahoo! News, those that did board the plane were offered help finding housing and jobs. One of them included a family that the contractors tried to separate as they were unsure if the children could go. Ultimately, the family was allowed to board the plane together but soon found out that they were lied to as they reached California. There were no jobs or housing were waiting for them.

El Paso Bishop Blasts Catholic Ron DeSantis's Migrant Stunts

Ron DeSantis's recruiters targeted a Catholic church in El Paso as they looked for migrants to send to California as part of the governor's stunts to "own the libs." Now, Bishop Mark Seitz of El Paso is blasting the Florida governor, who is a devout Catholic himself, because of his reprehensible actions.

"Without going into the details of the politics of it, it does seem clear that they were being used not out of concern for the migrants but in an effort to make a political point," said the bishop, who pointed out that the migrants coming in the US have no idea how far cities and states are from one another.

The bishop also called the stunt itself reprehensible, saying, "It is taking person who already has lost everything - everything. They have nothing, not even a nation they can really call their own because they have had to flee that nation. And then using them for your own purposes: That is not morally acceptable."

DeSantis, who is possibly facing charges in Bexar County, Texas for his Martha's Vineyard migrant stunt, could face additional charges from California for this latest one, His office has already admitted to sending the plane full of migrants to California.
