Tucker Carlson has a new show that he is streaming on Twitter. His old employer, Fox News, does not seem happy about it, as the network sent him a cease-and-desist letter, demanding that their former host stop posting videos on the social media platform.

Tucker Carlson has now launched two episodes of his new "Tucker on Twitter" series, choosing Twitter as he claims it was "the only" major remaining platform that allows free speech, denouncing much of news media. However, the show might have escalated things between him and Fox News, as pointed out by the Associated Press.

Fox News attorneys claimed that the Twitter videos are in violation of his contract with the network, which runs until early 2025. The lawyers pointed out that he was restricted from appearing on other media sites during that period.

However, lawyers representing the controversial conservative host stated that it was Fox News that breached the contract first. Harmeet Dhillon, one of the lawyers representing Carlson in this case, told the New York Times, "Doubling down on the most catastrophic programming decision in the history of the cable news industry, Fox is now demanding that Tucker Carlson be silent until after the 2024 election." He added that his client "will not be silenced by anyone."

As for the cease-and-desist order, it was pointed out that Fox News usually does not go after its former hosts. The network has largely been silent on the Tucker Carlson issue, even though threats from Carlson and his associates that they would leak the goings-on in the network to the media.

Carlson had been recording the Twitter videos from his studio in rural Maine, which Fox News previously raided last month, taking back filming equipment and other items from the studio they built for him.

Tucker Carlson and Fox News Clash Over Leaked Messages

The claims that it was Fox News that actually breached the contract first stemmed from the leaked private messages sent by Carlson being disclosed.

These private messages were presented as evidence during the Dominion lawsuit against Fox News, and it exposed that Carlson secretly hated Donald Trump. Despite this, Carlson doubled down in support of the former president and his policies.

Fox News took a hit after it fired Tucker Carlson, as the host seemingly took roughly a third of his viewers with him. As his contract dictated, he cannot appear on any other media platform until that contract expires.

Tucker Carlson Continues Show Despite Order From Fox News

This looks like Fox News and Tucker Carlson will be in for a legal battle as the former host streamed his latest episode on Twitter even after receiving the cease-and-desist order.

In that episode that defied Fox News, Carlson pushed conspiracy theories that Donald Trump is being prosecuted for calling out Washington, DC insiders, according to The Independent. He also name-dropped several Trump opponents like Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, Mike Pompeo, and even allies like Lindsey Graham for piling on the former president. This is even though Carlson himself said in private messages that he thought Trump was crazy and did not believe the conspiracy theories that he was pushing on air while he was still with Fox.
