While she was on stage to receive her award for Best Female Hip Hop Artist at this year's BET Awards, Nicki Minaj gave quite a dramatic acceptance speech, sharing her recent near-death experience as well as dissing fellow female rapper Iggy Azalea.

At the Nokia Theatre on Sunday evening, the Trinidadian emcee was more than happy and emotional to win her fifth consecutive trophy. While delivering her acceptance speech, she revealed that she was close to death last week and how that actually helped her to be herself.

"The other day, literally I didn't tell anybody this, I really thought I was about to die. Like, I was saying my prayers to die," she said. "And I didn't even want to call the ambulance because I thought, 'Well if I call the ambulance, it's going to be on TMZ.'" she said.

"And I would rather sit there and die," she added. "And it made me realize i don't care what anybody got to say. I'm going to do me."

In addition, Minaj did not hesitate to criticize artists who do not write their own music. Her bold, brutally honest statement seemed to be aimed at rising musician and "Fancy" hitmaker Iggy Azalea, who is rumored to have ghostwriters on her tracks. Although the Australian rapper is listed as a co-writer on her smash single "Work" and Ariana Grande's "Problem," she has not written the majority of her songs.

"What I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is, when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it," she said before coyly bringing her finger up to her lips, implying she was not going to say anymore. "And no, no, no, no, no shade," she added.

Nicki Minaj also performed her latest single "Pills N Potions," and received another award for Best Group along with her Young Money labelmates Lil Wayne and Drake.
