The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office has officially released the names of the five victims involved in the tragic Minneapolis car crash Friday night, per CBS News.

The Dar Al Farooq Center previously shared the identities of the victims, and the medical examiner has now confirmed them as Sabiriin Ali (17), Sahra Gesaade (20), Salma Abdikadir (20), Sagal Hersi (19), and Siham Adam (17).

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, the incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. when a speeding driver exiting Interstate 35W collided with another vehicle at Second Avenue and Lake Street intersection.

The second vehicle was occupied by the five young women.

After the collision, the speeding driver fled the scene but was later apprehended by the police. Authorities suspect the driver may have been impaired, although they have not publicly disclosed the driver's identity.

Sahra Gesaade was driving the vehicle that the victims were in, according to the examiner's report, adding that all the victims succumbed to multiple blunt-force injuries.

Friends and acquaintances of the five victims have described them as inseparable and mentioned that they were together on Friday night, making preparations for a friend's wedding scheduled for the following day.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing as authorities work to gather further details and determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following the devastating Minneapolis car crash, leaders from the Dar Al-Farooq Islamic Center have come forward to identify the young women who tragically lost their lives, according to KARE 11.

Abdulahi Farah, a board member, and Khalid Omar, the center's director, reached out to the families of these close-knit friends to offer support during this difficult time.

Farah admired the victims, describing them as volunteers and teachers who had achieved academic success by completing high school and pursuing a college education. Their promising futures were abruptly cut short by the tragic accident.

Omar emphasized the impact on the community, highlighting that the victims' parents are integral members of their shared community.

He recounted speaking with one mother who had last spoken to her daughter just 15 minutes before the car accident, emphasizing the profound and life-changing nature of the incident for both the families and the community at large.

The community remembers the five young women as active volunteers at the mosque, always willing to give back.

They would even spend the festive occasion of Eid at the center, ensuring that children had candy bags and contributing to the joyous celebrations.

Funeral Services for Minneapolis Car Crash Victims Will Be Held Monday

Star Tribune noted that a funeral had been scheduled for Monday to honor and remember the five young women who tragically died in the car crash on Lake Street in Minneapolis.

The services will occur at 1:30 p.m. at the Dar Al-Farooq Islamic Center at 8201 Park Ave. S. in Bloomington.

The funeral is open to the public, allowing community members to come together and pay their respects. The five women will be laid to rest at the Garden of Eden Cemetery in Burnsville after the service.

Since Saturday, the Dar Al-Farooq Islamic Center has provided support and solace to its community members after this devastating event.

A Facebook post from the center described the young women as shining stars of hope for the future, reflecting their profound impact on those around them.

An online fundraiser has been set up to assist the families of the victims of the Minneapolis car crash during this difficult time. As of Sunday, it has already raised more than $312,000.
