A 25-year-old man from Lorain, Ohio, named Jaylon Jennings, has been arrested in connection with the Cleveland mass shooting early Sunday morning, according to 19 News.

The Cleveland Police located Jennings with the assistance of the US Marshal's Service, and he was taken into custody without incident from a residence on Toledo Avenue in Lorain.

Following Jennings' arrest, the police requested a warrant to search his home. According to his arrest warrant, Jennings was seen inside Rumor Bar & Lounge before the shooting, where he allegedly identified several victims.

Witnesses reported that Jennings later retrieved a gun from his car, described as a Glock with an extended magazine, which he then used to deliberately shoot at people.

Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb and Police Chief Wayne Drummond held a discussion with 19 News on Monday regarding the shooting before Jennings' arrest.

Reward Offered for Cleveland Mass Shooting Suspect's Information Leads to His Quick Arrest

Bobby George, a Cleveland business and restaurant owner, revealed that his offer of a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect played a role in the tip that led to Jaylon Jennings' arrest.

George expressed his belief that providing an incentive can yield positive outcomes, and in this case, it motivated someone to come forward with valuable information, News 5 reports.

Mayor Bibb acknowledged the collaborative effort that led to Jennings' arrest, stating that apprehending the suspect took 61 hours from the shooting.

He emphasized the importance of law enforcement agencies working together and highlighted the support of business owners like Bobby George, who donated significantly to encourage tips.

Bibb expressed hope that the victims and their families could find solace in the arrest and that residents would feel safer knowing the suspect was in custody.

Cleveland Police Chief Wayne Drummond mentioned that the motive behind the shooting has not yet been determined.

While Jennings was not formally charged, he was arrested on nine counts of felonious assault in connection with the incident.

The mass shooting in Cleveland occurred during a year marked by increased violence in the city. With 70 homicides recorded so far, compared to 63 at the same time last year, the situation is concerning.

During his remarks, Bibb attributed some gun violence to the passage of Ohio's permitless concealed carry law by the GOP-led Ohio General Assembly last year, per WKYC.

In response, the Ohio Republican Party criticized Bibb, accusing him of playing politics and failing to address rising crime rates.

They emphasized the need for the city's elected leadership to take responsibility for the understaffed and under-supported police force and address the pressing issues.

Bibb stressed the presence of illegal guns in the community and the impact of state and federal policies on tracking their flow.

He called for implementing common-sense gun laws to address the underlying causes of violent crime.

Bibb and Police Chief Drummond encouraged citizens not to lose hope and to continue supporting law enforcement efforts.

They highlighted the dedication and hard work of the police force in keeping the city safe.
