A person of interest, suspected serial killer, has been linked to a series of Oregon deaths in the Portland area, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.

Initially, officials had stated that they did not believe the six cases in the Portland Metro Area were connected, but they have now identified a potential link, according to Fox News.

Police have connected four out of six cases, specifically the murders of Kristin Smith, Charity Lynn Perry, Bridget Leann (Ramsay) Webster, and Ashley Real.

The victims were discovered between February 19 and May 7 of this year. 

The investigation into these murders has involved more than nine different law enforcement agencies, including the Gresham Police Department, Portland Police Bureau, Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, Multnomah County District Attorney's Office, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Clackamas County District Attorney's Office, Polk County Sheriff's Office, Polk County District Attorney's Office, and the Oregon State Police.

Oregon Deaths

The Portland Police Department located the remains of Kristin Smith in February. She had been reported missing in December, per CNN. Her family expressed their grief and desire for answers, seeking justice for their daughter.

Charity Perry's body was discovered on April 24 near a highway northeast of Portland. Her last known whereabouts were in downtown Portland at the beginning of March. Perry's mother spoke about her daughter's vibrant personality and mentioned her recent struggles with mental health.

Bridget Leann (Ramsey) Webster's body was found on April 30 near Mill Creek, approximately 50 miles southwest of Portland. Her death was deemed suspicious, and authorities urged anyone with information to come forward.

Ashley Real's remains were found on May 7 in a wooded area in Clackamas County, just south of Portland. Her death was also considered suspicious. Real had been reported missing to the Portland police in early April.

Oregon Deaths Suspected Serial Killer in Custody

Jesse Lee Calhoun, 38, has been identified as a person of interest in the Oregon deaths, KOIN noted.

Calhoun, the suspected serial killer, is now in custody, but how his connection to the deaths is unclear. However, it is known that he has an extensive criminal history.

In 2019, Calhoun faced charges, including unauthorized use of a vehicle, assaulting a public safety officer, and first-degree burglary. During his arrest, he allegedly choked a K9 and kicked an officer.

He has previously lived in different areas of Portland, including SE Portland, Wood Village, and Troutdale, and worked as a self-employed car detailer.

Court records indicate he has two teenage children and was a daily meth user.

Calhoun's release date was originally projected for June 2022, but in 2021, then-governor Kate Brown signed a commutation order that granted clemency to certain prisoners who met specific criteria, including Calhoun. He was released on July 22, 2021, under this commutation.

However, on July 3, Governor Kotek's office received a request to revoke Calhoun's commutation status, and it was signed the same day.

Calhoun is now back in custody and is expected to complete his sentence with a projected release date of June 9, 2024.

Meanwhile, the alleged serial killer has not yet been charged with the deaths of the four women in Oregon.
