Powerball Jackpot Reaches $1 Billion: When Is the Next Draw?
No lucky ticket holders secured the Powerball jackpot on Monday night, resulting in the upcoming Powerball draw skyrocketing to an estimated $1 billion, per NBC News.
The winning numbers for Monday's draw were 5, 8, 9, 17, and 41, with the red Powerball number being 21, according to the Powerball website.
While no one claimed the jackpot, there were winners of $2 million each in the Match 5 plus Power Play category.
These fortunate individuals purchased their tickets in Arkansas, Georgia, and Texas. Additionally, $1 million tickets for the Match 5 category were sold in Connecticut, Florida, Kentucky, New York, and Pennsylvania.
The next Powerball drawing is scheduled for Wednesday at 11 pm ET, with the cash payout estimated to be $516.8 million.
The estimated $900 million jackpot for Monday's draw is already ranked the third-largest in the game's history. The second-largest jackpot to date was a $1.586 billion prize won in 2016, while the all-time highest jackpot was $2.04 billion, claimed last year.

How to Play Powerball?
To play Powerball, you need to select five numbers ranging from 1 to 69 for the white balls and one number ranging from 1 to 26 for the red Powerball.
You can choose the numbers on a play slip or opt for the lottery terminal to randomly select them for you, per ABC News.
For an additional $1, you can add the Power Play feature, which multiplies non-jackpot prizes by two, three, four, five, or ten times. The multiplier number is chosen randomly before each drawing.
It's important to note that the ten-times multiplier is only active when the advertised jackpot annuity is $150 million or less.
However, the Match 5 prize with Power Play always amounts to $2 million.
Powerball tickets are priced at $2 and available in 45 US states, Washington, DC, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.
Powerball is bundled with Power Play in Idaho and Montana, requiring a minimum purchase price of $3 per ticket to enjoy the multiplier feature.
You can visit authorized retailers in participating US states to buy Powerball tickets. Some states also offer the option to purchase tickets online through their respective lottery agencies.
Alternatively, you can participate in Powerball through the online lottery ticket company, Jackpot.com, by visiting their website or downloading their mobile app.
The Powerball jackpot increases based on game sales and interest. However, the probability of winning the grand prize is 1 in 292.2 million.
If you are lucky enough to win the jackpot, you have two options for receiving the money. You can choose an immediate cash lump sum or receive the prize in 30 annual payments over 29 years.
Both advertised prize options do not include federal and jurisdictional taxes.
Meanwhile, all winning tickets must be redeemed in the jurisdiction where they were purchased.
Furthermore, more than half of the proceeds generated from Powerball ticket sales remain in the jurisdiction where the ticket was bought, contributing to local initiatives and programs.
