Ron DeSantis Slams NBA Over Statement About Orlando Magic Donation
Ron DeSantis reacted to the National Basketball Players Association's statement slamming the Orlando Magic's donation to his 2024 campaign. Previously, the NBA team donated $50,000 to Never Back Down Inc., DeSantis's Super PAC.
In a tweet, DeSantis wrote, "It appears the NBA took a break from protesting our anthem and bending the knee to Communist China to chirp about my policies."
Human rights groups, civil rights groups, migrants' rights groups, LGBTQ groups, and Disney have all slammed DeSantis's policies in Florida but he has since doubled down on those policies. With the Orlando Magic donation, the NBPA is the latest to criticize DeSantis.
"A political contribution from the Orlando Magic is alarming given recent comments and policies of its beneficiary," stated the union. "NBA governors, players, and personnel have the right to express their personal political views, including through donations and statements. However, if contributions are made on behalf of an entire team, using money earned through the labor of its employees, it is incumbent upon the team governors to consider the diverse values and perspectives of staff and players."
The NBPA added that the team management's donations do not represent the players. The statement came after the Federal Elections Commission released a receipt that was dated June 26.

Ron DeSantis Slammed Over His Education Policy
According to Fox News, an Orlando Magic spokesperson stated that the check was dated and delivered on May 19, a few days before DeSantis announced his 2024 run.
"To clarify, this gift was given before Governor DeSantis entered the presidential race," said the spokesperson. "It was given as a Florida business in support of a Florida governor for the continued prosperity of Central Florida."
Several NBA players, including New Orleans Pelicans forward Larry Nance Jr., slammed the donation, saying, "So the [Orlando Magic] who have a majority black roster, a black head coach, and a black GM decided it was a good idea to support a man that claims that slavery had personal benefits for the enslaved?"
This was a reference to his educational policy where Florida passed new "standards" where teachers are forced to teach students that slaves benefitted from slavery. The Florida standards stated, "instruction includes how slaves develop skills, which in some instances could be applied for their personal benefit."
Ron DeSantis Admits 2020 Election Was Not Stolen, Says Donald Trump's Claims Are 'False'
As he continues to struggle against Donald Trump, DeSantis finally decided to do something different and attack Donald Trump's problems with the truth, especially regarding the 2020 elections. This comes after the former president was indicted for the third time, this one regarding his efforts to overturn the 2020 results.
"I've said many times: The election is what it is," said the governor while campaigning in Iowa. "All those theories that were put out did not prove to be true."
The New York Times pointed out that he did not name Trump but the Florida governor made it clear that the 2020 election was not "conducted the way I think that we want." DeSantis added that unnamed election officials were baselessly accused of "ballot harvesting" and social media companies of "stifling information" in the 2020 election, which were the things Trump did.
