Jamaica's historic World Cup run ended, but this also means that Colombia continues in the FIFA Women's World Cup. However, they will meet a mighty opponent next.

After they defeated the surprising Jamaicans, Colombia will be facing one of the favorites, #4-ranked England which recently defeated South Africa on penalties. CNN reported that the Colombians actually have a chance to win despite being 21 places under in the world rankings. This is because Colombia has the talent to pull off the upset.

The match is expected to happen in Sydney, with this being extra special to Colombia as they are the first South American team to reach the Final Eight since Brazil in 2011.

Colombia coach Nelson Abadía noted that this was a "unique" moment for women's soccer in Colombia and South America, adding, "This is the triumph of a human group that has worked hard to achieve consistency, to have a trade, character, personality ... and today we played and won well."

Jamaica Players in Tears After FIFA Women's World Cup Loss to Colombia

Jamaica's Reggae Girlz were in tears following their loss. The team had to rely on crowdfunding to be able to compete in the World Cup due to the lack of support from their own soccer federation.

Following their FIFA Women's World Cup exit, the Jamaica Football Federation acknowledged that "things have not been done perfectly" and assured that the organization is "working assiduously to resolve" the concerns of the Reggae Girlz players.

The Reggae Girlz have been fighting to make the JFF take the women's team more seriously as the federation did not do much to fund the team's trip to Australia.

The team did get some love from Jamaica's number one athlete though, as Track and Field legend Usain Bolt posted on social media after they were eliminated, "You made us all proud."

According to CBS Sports, the squad is led by 26-year-old Manchester City star Khadija "Bunny" Shaw who scored 56 goals and is now Jamaica's #1 all-time in number of goals scored. This was done in 38 international matches.

France Defeats Morocco To Advance in the FIFA Women's World Cup

Elsewhere in the World Cup, one of the favorites, France, also advanced after defeating the surprising Morocco team in a repeat of the result of the Men's World Cup last year.

Morocco grabbed sports headlines when the women's team advanced to the Round of 16 and eliminated one of the heavy favorites, Germany, from contention. However, the French were red-hot and went up to a 3-0 lead at the half.

Morocco was never able to recover as the French cruised to an easy victory. They will face hosts Australia next, as the Matildas are gearing up for a massive showdown with Les Bleues in Brisbane on Saturday. According to France 24, the winner will go on to face the winner of the Colombia vs. England match.
