California Mom Discovers Plastic-Wrapped Woman's Body Inside Son's Room
Authorities in California have initiated a homicide investigation following a chilling discovery by a mother who stumbled upon a woman's body wrapped in plastic in her son's room, The New York Post reported.
The unidentified mother's horrifying find occurred just after 1 am on Sunday in South Los Angeles.
The incident was prompted by a "distinct gas smell" that led her to investigate her son's room, as reported by Fox 11.
Upon responding, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers uncovered a grim crime scene.
A 20-year-old woman was discovered wrapped in plastic, and despite paramedics' immediate response, she was tragically pronounced dead at the location.
While the son's identity remains undisclosed, he has been identified as a 26-year-old male.
The LAPD verified their involvement, confirming that officers were dispatched to the residence on Wall Street in South LA's South-Central area around 1:15 am on Sunday.

Identification of Deceased Woman and Ongoing Investigation
The California woman found deceased and wrapped in plastic has been identified as 30-year-old Hannah Rachel Collins, according to The Independent.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are actively searching for the California mom's son, the primary suspect in the case.
Although the 26-year-old son is not presently under arrest, law enforcement is diligently working to locate him and gather more information surrounding the incident.
Tragic Similarity: Daughter of Radio Personality Also Found Dead Wrapped in Plastic
The shocking incident in California resembles an earlier case involving the daughter of the renowned radio personality, author, and pilot Gordon Baxter, per KFDM.
Jenny Baxter was found deceased and wrapped in a plastic bag earlier this year. The alleged murderer, identified as Russell Kinney, 38, had been Jenny Baxter's live-in boyfriend.
He has been taken into custody and charged with her murder.
Authorities in Orange County, Texas, reported that Kinney had confessed to the murder. It was revealed that the killing had stemmed from an argument between the couple.
Detectives uncovered that Kinney had used Jenny Baxter's cell phone to show she was still alive, even though he had reportedly killed her weeks prior.
The preliminary autopsy report suggested no fatal trauma, and the cause and manner of Jenny Baxter's death remain pending further toxicology analysis and investigative details.
An investigation began after deputies responded to a welfare check at Denbow Mobile Home Park in Vidor, Texas, prompted by concerns from a neighbor who hadn't seen Jenny Baxter or a person named Kinney since Christmas.
Despite a search, they couldn't find anyone then, leading to a missing person's report being filed.
Later, Baxter's family found what they believed was a body wrapped in plastic under a bed when checking on her pets.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division, Texas Rangers and the Jefferson County Crime Lab, got involved. An autopsy confirmed the body as Jenny Baxter's.
