Ron DeSantis Continues Slide After Chris Christie Overtakes Him in New Hampshire Poll
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis continues struggling in the polls and has even fallen to third place in a New Hampshire Republican Primary poll, losing to Trump critic Chris Christie, the former governor of New Jersey and one of the few candidates who are openly criticizing Trump.
The New Hampshire Republican Primary election poll was conducted by Emerson College, and the results were revealed on Tuesday. It showed that, as usual, Donald Trump is leading by a huge margin, but the second placer is not Ron DeSantis anymore.
The poll results, reported by The Hill, have Donald Trump getting 49% of the votes. Meanwhile, Chris Christie edged out DeSantis by 1% for the first time this election cycle, getting 9% of the vote, while the embattled Florida governor only took in 8% and has since fallen to third place. The poll also shows Tim Scott slowly gaining traction at 4th place, taking in 6% of the votes.
Emerson College Polling Executive Director Spencer Kimball noted, "DeSantis has been the alternative to Trump in Emerson polling this presidential cycle. This is the first time we have seen DeSantis drop out of second place in our polling, and fall back into the pack of candidates."
This shows the continuing slide that DeSantis has, going from frontrunner and potential Trump challenger to becoming rapidly unpopular. Trump even trolled DeSantis at a rally by flying a plane with the message "Be Likeable," taunting DeSantis, who was often presented as generally lacking in charisma and likeability.
Meanwhile, Chris Christie has been focusing on New Hampshire, even fighting back boos from trump loyalists as he continues lambasting the former president on the campaign trail. It is noted that DeSantis is focusing on Iowa rather than New Hampshire.

Ron DeSantis Also Lost to Vivek Ramaswamy in Another Poll
Chris Christie is not the only Republican candidate that Ron DeSantis is losing to in the polls, as an August 10 Cygnal Poll has DeSantis trailing behind billionaire businessman Vivek Ramaswamy. Donald Trump is first once again with 53%, while Ramaswamy garnered 11% of the votes. DeSantis once again finds himself in third place with 10%.
The Independent reported that bookmakers also have Ramaswamy overtaking DeSantis in their odds, with the Florida governor only having 7.1/1 odds to win. In comparison, Ramaswamy has 7/1 odds to win as the DeSantis slide continues.
Chris Christie Trading Insults With Donald Trump
While DeSantis continues struggling, Chris Christie is slowly getting traction, as shown in the Emerson College poll. His climb in the polls came after a rather nasty exchange of barbs with frontrunner Donald Trump.
In what Politico calls a "Food Fight," Trump called Christie a "Fat Pig" while the former New Jersey governor fired back by roasting Trump's preference for overdone meat.
Christie then mocked Trump for acting like the victim as the former president faces various legal battles, both federal and state.
"Our poor New York City billionaire, so picked on," said Christie while listing Trump's various legal troubles. "Literally the same time I'm walking around Ukraine, he's waltzing into a courtroom in Washington, D.C., to tell us he's being indicted for us." He then mockingly added, "How lucky are we that we have such a selfless, magnanimous leader?"
