Dennis Rader, considered one of the most infamous serial killers in the US, is now the prime suspect in two additional cold cases. Also known as the "BTK Killer," Rader's former property was recently raided.

According to the Wichita Eagle, Oklahoma officials dug up the notorious serial killer's property in Park City, Kansas where they found several "items of interest." Osage County Sheriff Eddie Virden stated that these include "personal items and other binding type items."

The digging in the former Rader property began last April after a pantyhose with knots "where they would go probably around the wrist or ankle" was found. As authorities continued to scour the property, the "BTK Killer" is now named as the prime suspect in the 1976 disappearance of Cynthia "Cyndi" Dawn Kinney.

The April search was not reported to the public, given how infamous the "BTK Killer" was. This latest search was also not supposed to be released to the public, but word got out. The reason for the secrecy was that authorities were "trying to protect families of victims and not compromise the investigation."

Sheriff Virden stated that they could not say what exactly they found on this latest search of the property. However, he did confirm that they did find some evidence that was "deliberately placed 14-16 inches below the ground."

As a serial killer, Rader had a history of saving items from his victims. The sheriff noted that "it has to be meaningful for him to go through that much trouble."

"It was definitely an intentional burial of those items," said the sheriff, who added that the items were buried in two different spots, which had dirt removed and replaced with a sand-like substance.

The Two New Victims That "BTK Killer" Dennis Rader Might Have Killed

Cynthia Kinney was a 16-year-old cheerleader from Pawhuska, Oklahoma. She disappeared in 1976 and her case was investigated on and off through the years before getting reopened last December.

Her connection to Rader was made because of where Kinney was last seen, which was a laundromat, according to the Associated Press.

Sheriff Virden noted that a bank across the street from that laundromat installed new alarms, and none other than Dennis Rader was the installer for the company in that area. However, the sheriff admitted that he could not confirm that it was Rader who installed the alarm systems there.

Rader has now also become the prime suspect in the death of 22-year-old Shawna Beth Garber. Her body was found in December 1990 in McDonald County, Missouri. She was reportedly found raped, strangled, and restrained with different bindings and her remains were not identified until 2021. The way she was killed was consistent with Rader's mode of killing, as "BTK" stands for "bind, torture, and kill."

Who Is the "BTK Killer," Dennis Rader?

Dennis Rader is currently serving life in prison for his serial killings that happened over several years, according to ABC affiliate KAKE. The investigation into these two new cold cases is still ongoing, so it is still not known if he was indeed involved.

However, as the "BTK Killer," Rader became infamous for eluding the police while committing brutal acts of murder, as well as taunting authorities and the media.

Now 78, Rader has confessed to 10 killings in the Wichita area. He was then sentenced to 10 consecutive life sentences in August 2005.

Rader worked as a city code inspector in Kansas and was also a church leader and Boy Scout volunteer when he was arrested in 2005. His family had no idea he was the depraved serial killer who had eluded and taunted police repeatedly.
