California: 2 Models Found Dead Days Apart in Downtown LA Apartments
California police are currently probing the untimely deaths of two aspiring models, discovered in separate LA apartments just days apart, ABC News reports.
Maleesa Mooney, 31, was found lifeless on September 12, and authorities are treating her demise as a homicide, as confirmed by a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department.
In a parallel investigation, the death of Nichole "Nikki" Coats, 32, on September 10 is categorized as "undetermined" at this stage.
The LAPD will await the findings of the LA County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner before determining whether Coats' case warrants a homicide investigation.
It is too early for law enforcement to ascertain any potential links between these two cases, said LAPD, adding that they are awaiting comprehensive reports from the coroner's office.

Nichole Coats' Tragic Discovery
Nichole Coats, 32, was discovered deceased in her California apartment on September 10 by her father and aunt, who had grown concerned due to not hearing from her for several days, according to E! News.
LAPD officers confirmed her death, having conducted a welfare check at the residence.
Following her untimely passing, Coats' loved ones expressed their grief and desire for answers. Her mother, Sharon Coats, emotionally stated, "This is senseless, and I want some answers because my daughter is gone, and it's not fair. I want everybody to find out who did this to her. She shouldn't be gone."
Sharon Coats revealed that she had spent four days with her daughter in her downtown LA apartment just days before her death, per PEOPLE.
Nichole, a part-time California model and a beauty products salesperson, was on the verge of a trip to Cancun, Mexico, with her friends. Her mother had to cancel her flights, and brand-new bikinis, still with tags, remained untouched.
Sharon Coats also noted that her daughter had gone on a date two days before her passing, which was unusual since Nichole would typically inform her mother about such plans.
This sudden turn of events has left the family in anguish and searching for answers.
Maleesa Mooney's Tragic End
The sister of Guyanese pop star Jourdin Pauline, Maleesa Mooney, 31, was discovered deceased inside her opulent LA apartment.
Her family became alarmed when their text messages with Mooney switched from blue to green, indicating a change in WiFi and data services.
Concerned about her wellbeing, they promptly requested a wellness check, the Daily Mail noted.
Tributes poured in for Maleesa Mooney, an aspiring California model.
The LAPD initiated a murder investigation upon discovering her lifeless body in her apartment at Skye at Bunker Hill on September 12, shortly before 4 PM. The authorities have not disclosed how long she had been deceased.
As of now, the exact cause of her demise remains undisclosed, pending further investigation.
Bailey Babb, Mooney's cousin, emphasized the family's growing concern when their messages to her went unanswered for an extended period.
Jourdin Pauline, the California model's pop star sister, described her as the family's peacemaker and backbone, underscoring the profound loss experienced by her loved ones.
