Las Vegas Teen Suspected for Fatal Hit-and-Run Could be Tried as Adult, Says DA
Two Las Vegas teens face murder charges after intentionally targeting a bicyclist and recording the horrific act.
Las Vegas authorities revealed this disturbing incident on Tuesday, according to Yahoo! News.
The teens are linked to at least three hit-and-run incidents that occurred on the morning of August 14.
Tragically, 64-year-old Andreas Rene Probst, a retired police chief in Bell, California, lost his life in what appears to be the final and fatal episode.
The video captured from the front passenger seat of the Las Vegas teens' stolen vehicle shows the vehicle approaching Probst from behind as he was riding near the road's curb, with no other traffic in sight.
Shockingly, the occupants of the car can be heard laughing as the vehicle intentionally swerves towards the retired police, ultimately colliding with his bicycle.
This violent impact sent Probst flying onto the car's hood and crashing into the windshield.
A later image from the moving vehicle shows Probst on the ground next to the roadside.
Deputy Police Chief Nick Farese strongly condemned the recording from inside the stolen vehicle, describing it as both appalling and a cowardly act.
Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson expressed his personal commitment to the case and pledged to charge both teenagers as adults, withholding their identities until then.
Wolfson stated emphatically, "Justice will be served in this case."

Las Vegas Teens Gotten Into Separate Road Rage Before Hitting the Retired Police
The police have provided further details regarding the activities of the two teenage suspects involved in the tragic incident.
According to law enforcement, the Las Vegas teens were engaged in a series of disturbing events leading up to the fatal collision with Probst on August 14.
Before the incident with Probst, the suspects were reportedly involved in another hit-and-run crash, which occurred shortly before 5:30 AM on Fort Apache near Washburn Roads.
In this case, a 72-year-old male bicyclist was the victim, 8 News Now reported.
Additionally, the two juvenile suspects are accused of reckless driving that resulted in a collision with the driver of a white Toyota Corolla.
This incident occurred further east on US 95 near Azure and Tenaya Way, preceding the collision with Probst.
The suspects' involvement in multiple vehicle thefts on the day of the fatal crash has also been confirmed.
Authorities have shared a map outlining the various crimes they are believed to have committed.
It is worth noting that the suspects are thought to have used as many as four vehicles during their activities, and three of these vehicles have been recovered by law enforcement.
Following the collision with Probst, the stolen vehicle used by the suspects was located and recovered by the police.
Subsequently, the police received a report regarding the theft of multiple vehicles involved in a crash at James Bilbray Drive and Balzar Avenue.
During their investigation, they identified the second suspect, who was accused of leaving the crash scene while wearing a mask.
This identification was possible through video evidence, with authorities matching several items of clothing and tattoos to the suspect.
Community Members Honor Retired Police
The community rallied together on September 7 to honor Andreas Probst, who had dedicated 35 years of his life to law enforcement and retired as Chief of the Bell, California Police Department.
As a tribute, a white ghost bike was set up in his memory, serving as a poignant reminder for drivers to exercise caution on the road, per KTNV.
"They made it very clear that Andreas would not want people sad or mourning over him. That might be out of our control, but they were in favor of the memorial. They hoped it would serve as a visual for other people to put the phone down, slow down, don't drive under the influence," said Ghost Bikes Las Vegas co-founder Pat Treichel
Probst's family hoped this memorial would raise awareness and encourage responsible driving behaviors in memory of a man who was not just a cyclist but also a beloved father, son, and brother.
Andreas Probst was laid to rest on September 9 in Corona, California.
