President Joe Biden and the Democrats have announced they raised over $71 million for his 2024 reelection campaign in the three months ending on September 30, according to AP News.

This substantial fundraising figure demonstrates the ongoing support of party donors as Biden prepares for a potential 2024 election that could feature a rematch with former President Donald Trump.

The announcement follows a report that the Biden campaign and the Democratic Party raised more than $72 million in the 10 weeks between his official campaign announcement on April 25 and the end of the second quarter on June 30.

These fundraising totals encompass contributions to both Biden's campaign and various joint fundraising arrangements with national and state Democratic parties.

The campaign disclosed that Democrats had amassed $91 million in cash on hand by the end of September, marking the highest-ever total for a Democrats at this point in an election cycle.

Julie Chavez Rodriguez, the manager of Joe Biden 2024 reelection campaign, emphasized the enthusiasm and support behind these fundraising achievements, stating, "These numbers are a testament to one of our core objectives early in this campaign: raise the resources needed to run an aggressive campaign that will win in November 2024."

Joe Biden 2024 Reelection Funds

The Joe Biden campaign, headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware, plans to utilize the funds raised to expand its team, organize activities in competitive states, and launch advertising campaigns, per CNBC.

The campaign is also expected to expand its workforce in the coming weeks to prepare for the 2024 election, where their likely rival is seen as Republican former President Donald Trump.

Comparatively, then-President Trump and the Republican National Committee raised $125 million in the third quarter of 2019 for their reelection efforts.

 In 2011, former President Barack Obama and the Democratic National Committee collected $70 million, an amount that Biden's latest fundraising figures would exceed in inflation-adjusted terms.

It's important to note that fundraising figures reported by Biden's campaign cannot be directly compared to those of Republican candidates because they include party accounts controlled by Biden's supporters.

Additionally, Republicans have not yet selected a nominee and are allocating campaign funds to compete against one another.

The Biden campaign, along with other candidates, will be required to submit more detailed financial records to the Federal Election Commission later on Sunday.

Joe Biden Fund Raising: New Donors and 'Dark Brandon'

Notably, Biden's latest fundraising figure surpasses the amounts raised by candidates in the Republican presidential primary.

Trump, who is leading among Republican candidates, reported raising over $45.5 million last quarter for his campaign and affiliated committees, with $37.5 million on hand.

Biden, however, raised less than the $125 million that Trump, an incumbent presidential candidate, raised in the third fundraising quarter of 2019, CNN reports.

Yet, he exceeded the $70 million raised by former President Barack Obama in the same period in 2011.

Joe Biden's campaign revealed that more than 493,000 donors contributed through 843,000 donations.

They've also attracted over 240,000 new donors who did not contribute to Biden's 2020 campaign, with a focus on small-dollar donors.

Additionally, the campaign has doubled the number of donors committed to monthly contributions since the last quarter, now reaching over 112,000 contributors.

The campaign employed online tactics to attract small-dollar donors, including raising nearly $2.5 million through a contest offering the chance to meet Joe Biden and Barack Obama and generating close to $2 million through the sale of "Dark Brandon" mugs, a product promoted by Biden in social media videos.
