Mexico: 5 of the Best Beaches in the Country
Without a shadow of a doubt, Mexico is home to some of the most iconic beaches on Earth. When we talk about Mexican vacations, beaches are often one of the first things that come to mind.
Most of the most famous beaches in Mexico are along the Caribbean coast, though beaches in other areas, such as the Pacific coast, can give them a proper run for their money. All things considered, though, Mexico's warm weather and climate make it a great place to vacation.
Our 5 Most Favorite Beaches in Mexico
Mexico is littered with beaches, but we certainly have our favorites. We listed five of our favorite Mexican beaches, though they are not listed in order. These are:
Playa Carrizalillo
While this beach town is not as well known as many of the others, this beach paradise in Oaxaca can certainly compete with the likes of Cancun or the others on the Caribbean Coast. According to Afar, this beach is best known as one of the world's best surf destinations, though many also love it for its quiet atmosphere and laid-back nature. Its turquoise waters are certainly a nice place to take a swim, and it's also a great place to go scuba diving.
Playa Balandra
This one is in the Sea of Cortez, and describing Playa Balandra as stunning would be an understatement. It boasts views of the desert meeting the ocean and is actually famous for snorkeling and swimming. Conde Nas Traveler even describes it as "arguably the most picturesque beach in all of Baja California."

Cancun
Stuck in a winter snowstorm? Why not do a Ted Cruz and fly to Cancun? This resort town is tailor-made for tourists and is a favorite destination for many foreign tourists, Texas senators included.
Kidding aside, this resort town along the Caribbean Coast in Quintana Roo state is known for its plethora of resort hotels, luxurious accommodations, and, best of all, some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. There is also plenty of shopping and other activities, though it can get full of tourists during peak seasons like summer and spring breaks.
Cabo San Lucas
Speaking of spring break, this resort town is one of the biggest spring break destinations in the world, attracting college kids, party-goers, celebrities, and just average vacationers from all over the world. It is a great place to go surfing, but it is also quite known for being a great place to just relax and chill at the beach or just swim.
Isla Holbox
This beach has been ranked as the #1 beach in Mexico by US News Travel, and for good reason. Found in the Yucatan Peninsula, this beach is much quieter and more relaxing than its other neighbors along the Caribbean Coast. It is a great place to watch sunsets, swim, and just relax overall. However, it is also a bird paradise and is quite known for all the flamingos living there.
