During a Dave Chappelle show on Thursday, some audience members reportedly left the performance following the comedian's remarks about the conflict in Israel and Gaza, according to FOX News.

According to attendees, Chappelle criticized Israel's actions in Gaza and voiced his support for students who support the Palestinian cause without facing job consequences.

The Wall Street Journal initially reported that some audience members expressed solidarity with Chappelle's comments by shouting "Free Palestine," while others questioned, "What about Hamas?" This exchange of views led to several audience members walking out.

Chappelle's comments were sparked by his belief that students who support the Palestinian cause should not suffer professional repercussions.

He encountered resistance from a member of the audience who shouted, "shut up," which prompted Chappelle to further discuss the Israel-Palestine conflict.

It's worth noting that the comedian condemned Hamas' actions against Israel while also accusing the United States of contributing to the harm of innocent civilians in the region.

In a related incident, three students from Harvard and Columbia universities were denied job offers at the prestigious law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell.

This came after they had signed open letters expressing support for Hamas in the wake of their attacks on Israel.

Through an internal email later shared on social media, the law firm explained that the content of these letters contradicted their organizational values, leading to the retraction of employment offers.

Dave Chappelle Bashes Israel

Dave Chappelle's comments during the show included criticism of the Israeli government's decision to cut off supplies like food, water, and electricity to Gaza, per the NY Post.

He also accused Israel of causing harm to innocent civilians and committing acts that could be considered war crimes.

The ongoing conflict in the region has resulted in a significant loss of life, with over 4,300 Palestinians reportedly killed as the Israel Defense Forces carried out a sustained bombardment of the Gaza enclave, involving more than 6,000 bombs.

Palestinian authorities have reported casualties among women and children.

Towards the end of the show, Chappelle conveyed that "two wrongs don't make a right," referring to the actions of Hamas and Israel in the conflict.

It's important to mention that a spokesperson for Dave Chappelle denied his presence in Boston that night, even though ticket outlets listed the show among his scheduled dates.

Dave Chappelle's Comedy and Controversies

Dave Chappelle, a prominent figure in the US comedy scene, has faced criticism for some of his jokes in the past. In his 2022 Netflix special, "The Closer," Chappelle made comments about gender, stating that "Gender is a fact" and has previously described trans people as "confusing" in another Netflix special titled "Sticks and Stones."

Despite these controversies, Netflix has stood by Chappelle, defending his artistic freedom, BBC noted.

In response to staff complaints and protests about hosting his material, Netflix asserted that those who disagreed with the content could leave the company, emphasizing their commitment to content diversity and artistic freedom.

Earlier that year, an incident occurred where a man was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon after Chappelle was attacked on stage during a Los Angeles show.

Fortunately, Dave Chappelle was unharmed in the incident.
