Drama unfolded during House Speaker Mike Johnson's first day on the job as a motion to censure GOP firebrand Marjorie Taylor Greene was filed after she tried getting Rep, Rashida Tlaib censured.

Greene accused Tlaib of recently inciting an insurrection in a House office building and "antisemitic activity, sympathizing with terrorist organizations and leading an insurrection at the United States Capitol Complex" despite herself having a long history of antisemitic posts on the internet, including her infamous "Jewish Space Lasers" conspiracy theory.

According to NBC News, Greene cited social media posts from the Democrat from Michigan who had been very vocal against Israel's offensive in Gaza. She also described Tlaib's attendance at a pro-peace rally at the Capitol held last October 18 as an "insurrection." The rally actually called for a ceasefire for both sides of the Israel-Hamas war.

During that rally, Capitol Police estimated that they arrested roughly 300 protestors after they entered the Cannon House Office building. Three of those protesters were charged with assault. However, NBC News noted that while the protest was indeed disruptive, it was incomparable to the insurrection at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, during which rioters stormed the building in an attempt to stop Joe Biden from being proclaimed president in an election he won.

Tlaib is the only Palestinian American serving in Congress and she attended the protest but did not join the protesters indoors. "I wish all the Palestinian people would see this. I wish they can see that not all of America want them to die, that they are not disposable," she said. "They didn't ask to be born in occupation ... the dehumanization has chipped at my soul."

Marjorie May Face Censure Herself After Trying To Censure Rashida Tlaib

Soon after Greene moved to censure Tlaib, Rep. Becca Balint, a Democrat from Vermont, also moved to force a vote on her resolution to censure the infamous "Jewish Space Laser" congresswoman from Georgia. In that resolution, Balint accused Greene of the thing she has accused Rep. Tlaib of, and that is anti-Semitism.

The resolution was first introduced last July and Balint is forcing a vote on it, which should happen in two days. It lists around 40 points of grievances against Greene that listed her specific comments, and spreading of false information, among others.

The Hill reported that she also slammed new House Speaker Mike Johnson for letting Greene file a resolution that she describes as "riddled with lies and falsehoods on my colleague."

Mike Johnson Also Faces George Santos Problem in Addition to Marjorie Taylor Greene and Rashida Tlaib

It was a rough first day in office for Mike Johnson as the day also featured a resolution to expel George Santos of New York from his fellow party members.

According to Forbes, the resolution to kick Santos out was brought by New York Republican Reps. Nick LaLota and Anthony D'Esposito. However, Santos getting kicked out might be bad for Republicans as New York's governor is a Democrat and would most likely replace him with another Democrat until the next elections.

These motions to censure Marjorie Taylor Greene and Rashida Tlaib, as well as kick out George Santos, were all filed within the same day and marked a tumultous first day in office for Johnson.
