In a recent poll ahead of the 2024 presidential election, former President Donald Trump emerged as the leader in five crucial battleground states, per USA Today.

Despite being a year away from the election, Trump remains a frontrunner among a crowded field of White House hopefuls, while President Joe Biden, the incumbent, is poised to secure Democratic support for a second term.

The latest polls, conducted by The New York Times and Siena College and published on Sunday, reveal that Donald Trump holds a significant lead over Biden in several battleground states.

Trump led by 10 points in Nevada, six points in Georgia, five points in Arizona, five points in Michigan, and four points in Pennsylvania.

Only in Wisconsin did Biden manage to secure a victory, albeit by a mere 2-point margin.

What Did the Poll Say?

The polls also reflect a notable sense of discontent among voters, with a majority expressing the belief that Biden's policies have negatively impacted them.

The data indicates a growing divide within the multiracial and multigenerational coalition that propelled Biden to victory in 2020.

Groups that previously supported Biden by wide margins are now facing stiffer competition, and a significant portion of the electorate believes that the country is headed in the wrong direction, according to The Seattle Times.

Key findings from the polls include:

  • Voters under the age of 30 only favored Biden by a single percentage point, illustrating a narrower lead among younger voters.

  • Biden's advantage among Hispanic voters has dwindled to single digits.

  • Biden's lead in urban areas is now only half of Trump's lead in rural regions.

  • While women continue to favor Biden, men now prefer Trump by a more significant margin, reversing the gender advantage that has favored Democrats in recent years.

  • Notably, Black voters, historically strong supporters of Democrats and Biden, now show 22% support for Trump in these battleground states, a level unseen in modern Republican presidential politics.

What Most Americans Believe If Donald Trump Wins 2024 Election?

Additionally, a CBS News poll reveals that a significant portion of Americans believe they would be financially better off if Donald Trump was reelected to the White House.

The poll found that 45% of respondents believe their financial situation would improve under a Trump presidency, while 32% expected to be worse off, and 23% anticipated no change.

In contrast, when asked about President Biden's handling of the economy, only 18% believed they would be better off financially in a second Biden term, while 48% expected to be worse off, with 34% predicting no change.

Regarding international affairs, more voters expressed confidence in Trump's ability to keep the United States out of wars.

Forty-three percent believed that the chances of US involvement in a war would decrease under Trump, while 39% thought the opposite.

In comparison, if Biden were to secure a second term, 49% expected an increase in the chances of the US being involved in a war, with 23% believing it would decrease and 23% predicting no change.

The CBS News/YouGov survey was conducted among 2,636 US adult residents between October 30 and November 3, with a margin of error of 2.6 percentage points. These findings offer early insights into the dynamics shaping the political landscape leading up to the 2024 presidential election.
