Sinaloa Cartel Members Sanctioned by US Government Over Fentanyl as El Chapo's Sons Order Members To Quit Drug's Production
More US sanctions against top members of the Sinaloa Cartel have been announced as these sanctions seem to be working after El Chapo's sons, Los Chapitos, ordered members to halt fentanyl production. Those cartel members who break this order will be put to death.
The sanctions were announced by the US Treasury Department which revealed that it has sanctioned 13 individuals and four businesses related to the Sinaloa Cartel. The US has been targeting the money flow of the cartel as of late and this strategy is seemingly bearing fruit.
These newly announced sanctions are done in cooperation with the government of Mexico. All four of the sanctioned companies with ties to fentanyl production are located in the country, according to News Nation.
Meanwhile, some of the 13 individuals named in the sanctions are wanted fugitives in the US. This includes Juan Carlos Morgan Huerta, also known as Cacayo. He manages the cartel's operations in Nogales and is responsible for shipping multiple tons of drugs including cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and fentanyl.
Other Sinaloa Cartel members that were slapped with this latest round of sanctions from the US government include Jose Arnolda "Chachio" Morgan Huerta, Jose Luis "Gordo" Morgan Huerta, Miguel Angel Morgan Huerta, Martin Morgan Huerta, and Oscar "Chino" Murillo Morgan. They are all related and reportedly play a key role in organizing and transporting illegal drugs and laundering money.
Mexican Businesses Hit With US Sanctions Over Sinaloa Cartel's Fentanyl Production
The sanctions also hit several Mexican businesses that have been tied to the Sinaloa Cartel. These include Conceptos Gastronomicos de Sonora S. de R.L. de C.V, better known as Habanero's, as well as Morgan Golden Mining S.A. de C.V., Comercializadora Villba Stone S.A. de C.V., and Exportadora del Campos Ramos Acosta S. de R.L. de C.V.

The individuals and companies named in the sanctions will now be cut off from the US banking system. This will prevent them from working with Americans and also block their assets in the US.
According to the Associated Press, the US Treasury Department has vowed to "aggressively pursue all who are complicit operators and facilitators of these illicit fentanyl networks" and "continue to use its authorities to expose and isolate those who profit from deadly fentanyl sales in the United States."
El Chapo Sons Order Sinaloa Cartel To Stop Producing Fentanyl Amid US Sanctions
As to whether these sanctions are working or not, the leadership of the Sinaloa Cartel has finally ordered its members to stop producing the deadly opioid with the penalty of death.
The order came down from the members of Los Chapitos, who themselves have been sanctioned by the US government. They are the favored sons of El Chapo and reports they are finally bowing down to the US government crackdown and economic pressure, per the New York Post.
"In Sinaloa, the sale, manufacture, transport or any kind of business involving the substance known as fentanyl, including the sale of chemical products for its elaboration, is permanently banned," a message from the Sinaloa Cartel leadership read as it was displayed in Culiacan. "You have been warned, Sincerely yours, Los Chapitos."
