The Donald Trump New York fraud trial continued with the defense stating its case for the first time and calling in Donald Trump Jr. as its first witness. Before he left the witness stand, Don Jr. commented that what will happen to the Trump Organization next will depend on the November 2024 elections.

"I guess a lot of that depends on what happens next November," Donald Trump's embattled eldest son stated. "We'll probably be put on hold for a little while and sued into oblivion for the foreseeable future."

This is in reference to his father's promises to go after his political opponents and the media should he return to the White House in 2024.

While on the stand, Don Jr. was asked about one of the more recent Trump Organization properties. This includes the Trump International Hotel at the Old Post Office location in Washington, DC. Donald Trump Jr. testified that it looked like "a war zone" before the Trump Organization got it from the General Services Administration.

"You'd be disappointed that you could let a building that spectacular get that run down," Don Jr. said of the Old Post Office, which later became Trump's top hotel in DC.

Trump attorney Cliff Robert also asked Donald Trump Jr. about Trump Organization employees and how many they are. To this, Don Jr. answered that they employed about 1,000 people, claiming that the number was higher if they included subcontractors, according to CNN.

The Trump lawyer also asked Don Jr. about how much taxes the Trump Organization pays, to which the Trump son replied, "I don't know specifically, but it's a big number."

However, while Donald Trump Jr. testified about how "great" the Trump Organization is, he may have slipped up when talking about one of his father's most prized properties, Mar-a-Lago, which is legally listed as a club.

"My father purchased what was one of the finest estates anywhere in the world," the Trump son testified.

He then called the property "amazing" and likened it to an "American castle." However, this was where he may have slipped up as he called Mar-a-Lago an estate and not what it was legally listed as, further amplifying the fraud accusations against him and his family.

As Yahoo! News pointed out, this showed that the Trump family perceives Mar-a-Lago not as a club but as an estate or a residential property. This furthers the New York State Attorney General's case against them. Just last week, the New York AG highlighted incongruous deeds and assessments for the former president's various international properties. This includes the development deed for Mar-a-Lago, which restricts its status as a club, not as a residence.

Donald Trump Jr. Heckled With 'Trump Crime Family' Chants

As he arrived in the courthouse, several people from the crowd started heckling Don Jr with "Trump Crime Family." This is a reference to what conservatives have been calling the Biden family thanks to the Hunter Biden investigation.

USA Today reported that there was a group of protesters waiting for Don Jr. outside of that New York City courthouse, with some sporting "Trump Crime Family" signs.
