Donald Trump's latest rhetoric is echoing that of authoritarian regimes, including Nazi Germany, as he vowed to go after political opponents and call them "vermin," something Adolf Hitler himself did. Now, this rhetoric is sparking concerns from historians and political experts.

The walls have been closing in on Trump as his legal troubles mount, especially in his New York fraud trial where he is poised to lose his business empire and he is instead seeking to win the case in the court of public opinion by hurling baseless accusations on the judge and the New York DA.

According to American Oversight, Trump pledged to "root out" his political opponents and called them "vermin," which in turn echoes speeches by totalitarian dictators like Hitler and Benito Mussolini, who stamped out any form of dissent and opposition.

This "authoritarian streak" was also shown when the former president shared an anonymous comment that called for Jew York AG Letitia James and Judge Arthur Engoron to be jailed through a "citizen's arrest," whipping up his supporters to make them believe that there is a political plot against him and spurring them on to commit acts of violence.

Trump has also vowed that should he be president, he would call for the Justice Department to investigate his perceived enemies, which experts have pointed out as what authoritarian rulers often do. This is something that is currently happening in Nicaragua, where President Daniel Ortega has stamped out all forms of dissent and is ruling the country with an iron fist, and experts are pointing out that Trump may be veering this way.

Illinois Governor Slams Donald Trump's Rhetoric Reminiscent of the Nazi Era

Other politicians are finding Donald Trump's recent rhetoric to be disturbing, including Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, who is of Jewish descent. He said that the former president is "dangerous for our democracy" and added that he is dangerous for specific minority groups in the US because of his draconic policies on immigration.

According to The Guardian, Gov. Pritzker helped drive the construction of the state's Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Chicago, and he likened Trump's recent rhetoric to that of Nazi Germany.

"The rhetoric that's being used by Trump, by some of the MAGA extremists, is rhetoric that was used in the 1930s in Germany [and] I am very concerned about the direction of the country if we see policies like what Donald Trump is espousing come to light," he said in a recent interview.

"In Germany in the 1930s people that they didn't want to have power, people that they wanted to separate and segregate, they began calling them immigrants, even people who had been in Germany for generations. This is a way to begin to segregate people and then eventually ... dehumanize and kill people," he added. "What I can tell you is that the things that he talks about are frightening to those of us who know the history of Europe in the 1930s and 40s. And I'm deeply concerned about his predilection for revenge and what that will mean for groups of people that didn't support him in the 2024 election if he gets elected."

Media Slammed for Giving Donald Trump's Nazi-Like Rhetoric a Free Pass

Donald Trump's pledge to "root out the communists, Marxists, fascists and the radical-left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country" was reminiscent of Nazi Germany because it is barely changed from its messaging, particularly its targeting of political opponents and the political left.

However, this is barely getting covered in mainstream media, in what The Hill called its "shrug-and-move-on response" to Trump's increasingly authoritarian rhetoric and vows to go after opponents. This showed that the media has now normalized Trump's dictatorial tendencies, which the Trump campaign has so far used to its advantage.
