Florida School Board Demands Moms for Liberty Co-Founder Bridget Ziegler To Resign After Sex Scandal
Moms For Liberty Co-Founder Bridget Ziegler has been caught up in her husband, Florida Republican Party Chairman Christian Ziegler's sex scandal, and a Florida School Board has voted to demand that she resign as one of its members because of this.
Bridget Ziegler, known for her ultra-conservative views, is part of the Sarasota County School Board as a Republican. However, her fellow Republican, School Board Chairwoman Karen Rose, called for a vote to ask for her resignation.
According to the Miami Herald, the vote resulted in 4-1 in favor of demanding Ziegler to resign. The vote came after Democrat Tom Edwards called for her resignation and said that the sex scandal involving her and her husband, Florida Republican Party Chairman Christian Ziegler, is a "distraction" from the work being done by the school board.
"I personally care about Bridget and her family and deeply regret the necessity for this course of action, but given the intense media scrutiny locally and nationally, her continued presence on the Board would cause irreparably harmful distractions to our critical mission," wrote Chairman Rose in the decision, adding that she is "shocked and deeply saddened" by the rape allegations involving Ziegler's husband.
The ongoing sex scandal engulfing the Zieglers has rattled Florida's conservative education movement, which has become infamous across the world over its book bannings and pushing of "Don't Say Gay" laws, as well as its rejection of kids being taught more about the Civil Rights movement.
Moms For Liberty Co-Founder Bridget Ziegler Has No Indication of Resigning After Florida School Board Vote
Bridget Ziegler was the only Sarasota School Board member who voted against the resolution for her resignation. After the vote, she remained on the board's dais and stated that she was disappointed by the result.

The board itself actually has no power to oust her and could only vote to demand her to resign. The Associated Press reported that so far, she has given no indication that she would be stepping down after the vote.
Protesters gathered outside the Florida school board meeting, with many holding signs demanding the Moms For Liberty co-founder resign. Many signs read, "Ban Bridget, not books" and "Real women aren't homophobes."
Why Was Moms For Liberty Co-Founder Bridget Ziegler Caught Up in Her Husband's Sex Scandal?
Bridget Ziegler's election to the Sarasota School Board last year was boosted by far-right extremist groups like the Proud Boys and her own Moms For Liberty group, as she espoused many of the ultra-conservative policies Florida schools have become infamous for.
However, everything changed when her husband, Florida Republican Party Chairman Christian Ziegler's sex scandal surfaced. He was accused of sexual assault, and Bridget Ziegler participated in a threesome with the woman accusing her husband of rape.
The accuser alleged that Christian Ziegler raped her in early October after they agreed to have a threesome with Bridget. Investigations are ongoing, and no charges have been filed yet. The scandal involving the two has been mounting and even Gov. Ron DeSantis and other state lawmakers have urged Christian Ziegler to step down from his position.
