Florida Teen Kills Sister After Argument Over Christmas Presents
A fight over Christmas presents has led to the death of a young mother as the argument between Florida teens over one getting more presents for Christmas suddenly took a deadly turn.
The two Florida teens who were arguing are aged 14 and 15. Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri told reporters they started arguing over who got more Christmas presents on Christmas Eve during a family shopping trip in Largo.
According to The Miami Herald, because they are still minors, the names of the two teens were not revealed, but it was confirmed that the victim was their sister who was just dropping off her own kids so they could be watched by their grandparents. The victim was identified as Abrielle Baldwin, their 23-year-old sister.
The argument between the two teen brothers continued into their grandparents' home, and this was when their older sister arrived to drop off her children. The fight between the two Florida teens ten escalated when the younger teen pulled out a gun and pointed it at his brother's head, threatening to shoot, the sheriff told reporters on Tuesday.
Their uncle broke the fight before any shots were fired. This was when their older sister followed the younger brother outside to ask him to calm down. She did this while still carrying her 11-month-old baby in her arms. The teen was still armed.

As she tried to make her younger brother calm down, Baldwin reportedly told the 14-year-old,"'You all need to leave that stuff alone,'" and added, "'Why are you trying to start it? It's Christmas.'"
However, instead of calming the Florida teen down, she only agitated him, and this led to him going on a tirade against her and calling her derogatory names. He then threatened to shoot his older sister and her baby before going through with those threats, shooting Baldwin in the chest and killing her with her child still in her arms.

Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri confirmed that the baby was in the carrier and was not injured. However, the shooting led the other brother, the 15-year-old, to come outside with his own gun and allegedly shot the younger teen in the stomach. He then threw the gun into a yard and fled before being taken into custody at a relative's house, according to CBS News.
Both Florida Teens Charged After Death of Older Sister
Soon after she was shot, Baldwin was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. She was shot in the chest and had her lungs popped, causing her to suffer internal bleeding.
This led the sheriff to lament about kids getting access to guns in Florida.
"These young kids - 14, 15 years old - routinely carry firearms and this is what happens when you got young delinquents that carry guns," Gualtieri said. "They get upset, they don't know how to handle stuff, and they end up shooting each other." "Now you got an 11-month-old and a 6-year-old boy," he added. "Their mom's dead."
Channel News 8 reported that the 14-year-old underwent surgery after his older brother shot him and is expected to survive. However, he is charged with first-degree murder, child abuse, and being a delinquent in possession of a firearm.
Meanwhile, his older brother has also been charged with attempted first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence.
